Dear Qantas -

On this page you advertise eggs in the Qantas Club for breakfast:
Dining in the Lounge | Qantas
"Our expanded hot breakfast menu offering a choice of boiled eggs, baked eggs and frittatas to accompany your choice of bakery and sides."

Visited recently in MEL at 8:30am, took partner who can't eat gluten so specifically went out of her way to pay $11 for parking, and join me for the eggs.

No eggs to be seen, only the usual toast, bircher, pancakes. I asked waitress where are the eggs, response: they are already removed by 8:30am. So what's the point of advertising eggs for breakfast in the lounges, if you remove them by a certain time? Who is meant to know this? This is inconsistency at its worst, and makes it hard to plan anything.

I can guarantee she wouldn't have paid for parking, she'd have thrown me out of the kerb, instead she wasted the parking money, and an hour of her time, and rolled her eyes.

What's good about McDonald's and why it's so popular is you always get 6 nuggets, never 5, never 7. Always 6.

Secondary feedback - your new order coffee on iPad facility - great idea except:
1) no option to specify in a washable cup/mug ("dine in"). It came in a landfill disposable cup. Upsetting to my partner as she cares for the environment.
2) no SMS came (even though the number registered), and nobody called out the order. Coffee sat on bench getting cold. Unusable system.

Thanks!

Mmmm have not had eggs but just about every other thing they serve..... Yum yum yum
They do have gluten free weet bix!

I've most certainly had both 5 and 7 nuggets in a 6 pack from mcd's. Think lifetime I'm 1 x 5 and 3 x 7 so currently two nugget ahead, sweet.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I don't see the problem.

I think your expectations are too high.

The breakfast menu normally ceases around 8.30am. The other items would have been removed not long after that, so you were lucky there were some left.

What time do you expect breakfast to continue until?

Depending on the day of the week, breakfast for me can stretch out to about 1pm. It's probably not reasonable to expect that to be catered for in the public arena

To expect eggs for breakfast when eggs are advertised as part of the breakfast menu?

Or that Qantas would deliver on what is advertised?

Timing wasn't the issue. Breakfast was still being served at the time the OP was there, but not eggs.

Edit: Although the post was about the domestic lounge, in the First lounges, I think breakfast is served till 11am.

Mate it's a very good question! Everything else to do with breakfast was there. You're a regular visitor, presumably, so you probably know all the times. But they're not published anywhere, so, for those that are irregular visitors, you would generally "assume" that 8:30am is still breakfast. I mean it's not lunch, is it. Not even elevenses.

Oh look it's one of those things, regular users vs the casual user that looks at the QF website and takes their word for it that there's going to be eggs there. That's all you can do. It's like many things in life. But when companies advertise something, and, you respond on the basis of that advertising, then, it's disappointing, and, it damages the goodwill of potential future customers. In this case, my partner.

On a forum such as this where many people love QF to pieces and will put up with things and dismiss criticism with responses like
I don't see the problem.
Then there's no point for irregular users to post concerns. Next will presumably be stuff like "Well if you don't like it go to the VF lounge" and so on.

Maybe the eggs are available until they run out.
If that's the case the website could have said "a choice of eggs, until they run out".

Maybe they're taken off every day at 8:29am, religiously.
If that's the case the website could have said "a choice of eggs until 8:30am"

But no, it just says, breakfast = eggs.

So I'm going to cut to the chase:

Qantas- what is the policy on the eggs in the lounge?
Are there a finite amount of eggs each day, that cease, when they run out?
Are eggs removed at a certain time each day before the rest of breakfast ceases?

I'm really keen to know about those eggs because there's only so many toasted sandwiches, bircher mueslis and pancakes I can have in my lifetime. They're all processed, highly carby foods, and I'd really love an egg! Thanks!

<snip>:

<snip>!

That said, this was a bit precious.

What about the wasted water in washing a mug? Maybe they burn the used paper cups, so no landfill.

If partner was upset about a paper cup, what about the gassy exhaust from planes burning fuel?

Now to be fair we dont know that they dont pay the extra surcharge to fly carbon neutral.

I understand QF domestic flights serve breakfast (assuming with eggs) up until 8.59am. According to this AusBT article anyway Qantas expands economy meal times, launches new headsets - Australian Business Traveller
One could argue that in the lead up to ending the breakfast service inflight that the breakfast service in the lounge would cease.
Although to be fair im not sure how many times i have seen eggs in the SYD QP when i have been there around this time (usually weekends) or anywhere to boil them. Although i'm probably not looking hard enough.

Also i have been to Maccas and ordered a sausage & egg at 10.15 and been told they have stopped making them and can only offer me whats left.

Red Roo has failed.

8.30am is breakfast, still two hours from morning tea.
If eggss are promoted then there should be eggs.

Seems like the contract lounge staff sometimes become a bit lax in their attitude to the customers and the service they are providing.

I have seen it as well.

Maybe it's my old age but I am becoming intolorate to mediocrity - especailly with businesses that know better.

Matt

Pretty sure they have gluten free bread in the QP. Sounds like whinging for the sake of it.

If they can make pancakes they can cook eggs. I always find a comment such as "first world problems," silly. Almost everything on here might fit into that category, but we share the intel and opinions anyway, mostly without judgment.

ROFL. First world problems.

Aren't the pancakes created through a press button machine operated by those wanting pancakes?

Ok, pancakes not a good example. Do they cook anything after 0830, until the next 'meal' service? It's a while since I was in the F lounge for brekky.

Heads up to the OP. While many on this forum suggest they could run Qantas better, you do know they are not management!
