Qantas Club Dress Standards...Stubbies, singlet and thongs....What the???

It might be due to the hundreds of families heading home after Christmas but there's no enforcement in the BNE QP today. I don't care. Just noting it.

FWIW the children are all being well behaved or supervised. It actually has a really relaxed feel today. Very enjoyable.

Yay for common sense!

Was surprised to see an older lady ahead of me on the escalator being allowed in Dom Syd J lounge today. She had sketcher thongs on - thick base wedge but definitely toe divider and no rear ankle strap.

So kids today we put it to the test. Earlier in this thread I posted advice from SQ SIN SKL Lounge Manager that they have ZERO dress code reqts in SIN. I figured the only way to verify this is to put it to the test.

So this morn upon arrival into SIN at 05:30 as soon as I stepped off escalator adjacent to SKL Lounge and approached entry I stopped - removed my shirt and shoes and socks - flashed my Gold Suites BP and entered lounge barefoot and bare chested.

Turn right inside and pass a guy on desk at entry to F section - continue on to entry to TPR and straight past girl on desk there - all the time accompanied by my 'guide' from original entry point. Apart from a few surprised looks on a few faces basically nobody batted an eyelid - clearly evident that indeed SQ ATPIT do not indeed have a any dress code whatsoever in SKL F Lounge.

BUT - young lady on desk at entry to TPR told me SQ are considering some dress restrictions - she stated that they have had feedback that beach type attire would be best kept to the beach and not in an international first class lounge - but I guess time will tell on this.

Please don't take this the wrong way Crusier Elite but looking at

were no complaints - how would it be if you were a bloke ?

:DSorry I gather that you are male but I could not resist !.

If they weren't before, I bet they are now :D
They will forever talk about the rules at the lounge Pre and Post Cruiser Elite.

Indeed they are - arrived back in SIN SKL this arvo and was greeted by lady on desk who said 'Welcome back Mr Elite - you have become very famous here'.

Won't bore you with all the details - suffice to say entry that morn was manned by junior staff - had more senior staff been on duty they would have politely asked me to put my shirt back on.

Anyways - matter has reached up to SQ Vice President level - indeed you can expect a formal SQ Lounge Attire policy going forward.

I did contemplate a pic to substantiate but TBH the embarrassment and redicularity of the trial had me 're-clothing' ASAP.
This has to be one of the funniest things I have read in a long time - don't know how you had the courage to do it, but thank-you for your ongoing commitment to this investigative process. :)

I notice that the shoes on one of the women in the acceptable dress example of the MCC for the Members Reserve have a toe divider with a back strap. The examples of thongs in the non-acceptable dress are all rubber ones.

Sitting in Cairns QP yesterday awaiting my CNS/BNE flight, I noticed at least 15 males either singly or in groups wearing the basic rubber thongs. Is this a Deep North dress exemption?
