I'm currently a Silver QFF member and a Qantas Club member, I joined for 5 years last year so have 4 years to go, if I qualify for Gold will they add another 12 months membership to my deal or is it really not worth me qualifying for Gold? Thinking of doing a quick trip *class for a week by Oct to get the status points required but not sure if its worth it. cheers HG

If you are a Qantas Club member and qualify gold/platinum, your membership will be placed on hold for as long as you remain at that level. Once you fall to silver or below, your Club membership is reactivated for the remaining period.

On your circumstances, if you're flying patterns will re-qualify you for Gold next year (which will be 600SC to re-qualify) then there might be some value in going for it. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry really about it.

As thewinchester so concisely put it - depends on your travel patterns. You have four years to go on your QC membership - each year you retain gold/platinum your QC is put on hold.

Now, if any of the benefits of being gold is an inducement in the longer term - such as priority upgrades (after CL and Plat members), then there could be a benefit. Also international lounge access, if that is an inducement to reach higher.

In most circumstances, it is a matter for personal choice and necessity.
