Qantas closes all airport meeting rooms & some valet parking locations

Yes, and I believe the remaining rooms have all been closed since March anyway. I guess this announcement just formalises the change.

Has anyone here ever used one of the Qantas meeting rooms? I have certainly met colleagues and had meetings in Qantas Club lounges before, but haven't found a justification to pay for a private meeting room when chatting in the main lounge area normally works just fine.
I've hosted and attended meetings in the rooms in BNE, SYD and MEL. I'm CBR based and the meetings were with people from everywhere. I thought they were pretty good.

I attended quite a few meetings in the MEL rooms over the years, with attendees flying in from other states. It was very convenient to fly in and not have to leave the airport, also got to enjoy a drink at the end of the day before flying home again.

I would also like to see phone rooms introduced, like they have in the JAL lounges.

The QF meeting rooms where THE BEST! For a National organisation we used them for six board meetings a year and being airside it made such a difference not having to factor in time for attendees to have to get through the screening to catch planes. Even those who usually flew VA we forced onto QF for these trips.

Even the meeting rooms in the ParkRoyal at MEL, a very short walk, were far less convenient because of getting back through security and the time you have to allow for that.

Last time I spent a whole day in a Sydney meeting room was around 1999, when I flew down from Melbourne. Horrid experience.

Yes, no QF valet parking in BNE is a sad loss, I loved going direct from car to checkin.
Wondering if QF has also permanently closed/vacated the premium entry, which the valet desk was a part of. Virgin's website still saying 'watch this space' regarding premium entry and premium valet. Last week the infrastructure was still there.

BNE still claiming it's own Valet parking is only temporarily shut, but no indication if/when that will reopen, and it's location was a lot less convenient. If the airlines ditch theirs, less incentive for BNE to reinstate theirs.

No, the Brisbane QF Premium Entry is certainly still operating, though for reduced hours at the moment.

I suspect that either: (a) the valet operator has gone bust; or (b) QF wants to use the space for something else.

Indeed, with Sydney "coming soon".

While QF claim valet is kaput in BNE, VA and BNE airport still reckon their valet parking is only shut temporarily.

I have used them several times when working as a government contractor - the government paid, so I don't know how much it cost but it was a better place to talk about various business activities that probably did not need to be overheard in the public lounge. I used them in MEL and SYD several times, and once in ADL (I think). Certainly saved a lot of time for us not having to commute into the city and do building access arrangements. although probably not that fun for the people coming out to meet us. The catering provided was bog standard lounge fare. I'm actually a bit sorry to see this service go, but probably been replaced by Zoom now.

I received an email from QF yesterday to let me know that the QF valet parking facility in Sydney terminal 3 has reopened. The email pointed out that the express bag drop facility was not yet open and the valet was being run by SACL.

Meanwhile in BNE, the airport is now offering a Park&Fly option, which looks for all the world like valet parking. The blurb online for this parking option describes it as...
  • New simpler Valet style parking
  • New Location - Level 3 of P2 carpark
  • Drop your car and keys with us and we'll take care of the rest
  • Available from 4am to midnight only

Might provide some small incentive for QF to reopen theirs, although VA reopening their valet parking would provide more such.
