Qantas Classic Reward & Upgrade Devaluation on 5 August 2025

Damn just realised going through the booking that all the Melbourne to Sydney parts of the booking will be economy only the KL to Melbourne is business. Even though it's a classic rewards business booking . Other option is Brisbane which does have Brisbane to Sydney business but the KL to Brisbane is on the older planes .

If it's a Melbourne to Sydney economy but the total booking was done through business. Do I at least get to sample the Melbourne Qantas business lounge? Was hoping to get a shower in before my Sydney leg..

Yes, Qantas permit this as well as being eligible under the oneworld connecting flights rule.

Far out, webpage crashed as I was at the checkout payment card screen. And now I can't find the flight anymore as it says it's no longer available but I think it's just locked that flight out waiting for me to pay. 😭

this happened to me before when booking rewards via QF website. i think it took a couple of hours before i saw it again. i know how you feel though, when i booked it there was only one reward seat left in business so i was desperately refreshing my webpage

It can be done and have done it. In my case it was a MEL-ADL one way I had made during a DSC offer. Some plans changed so I changed the booking to ADL-SYD-HKG-MEL-ADL. The SC earn went up significantly from what would have been 40 to 640.
i presume you did this via contact centre and not website? seems like a complex booking...did you get charged the contact centre booking fee?

If I book a business award DXB>HKG today, can I then add a HKG>AU leg if/once it becomes available? (or is adding additional flights only available for the 318k RTW tickets?)

If it's possible, would the new DXB>HKG>AU itinerary (if the connection is less than 24h) reprice on:
1. current DXB>AU award price, and
2. 5,000 points change fee per passenger?

Bingo @jase05
Thanks, I have booked J x 2 MEL-CGK return direct flights - not sure which direction we will head for my birthday in June., but have at least got something, had FOMO!
CGK often has some great fares elsewhere. At the moment for example they have China or Taipei for about $1k return on Cathay if you want to visit HK. I picked up one way from CGK to MEL for $1200 in J on Vietnam airlines. Plenty more bargains out there

this is the issue i have too, its no longer available but i can see its in my cart but i cant click on the cart as it comes up with an error. I hope it clears itself out before tomorrow. I am on hold with the support center as i was told they can process the payment since its in my cart, but been on hold for 1 hour now :(

It had to be done by the contact centre, the original fare was flex so there were no change fees. Not sure if make a difference however I was P1 at the time and would usually get through to competent agents.

Done several (too many) positioning flights between SYD and CGK. The QF J is quite good IMHO. The o/n transit in a hotel (to be safe) on seperate tix is becoming a bore. The flight home is arguably too short to enjoy some F&B and lie flat! Last time, I just stayed up and watched movies. Flight time was like 6hrs!
Good to hear @SYD just got 2 × J there and back MEL.
I’ve been pondering MNL but keep seeing horror stories about the airport experience…
Ahhh, the mother of my godson avoids it like the plague. She chooses to go to SIN then to Davao/Cebu on Scoot.
Have several CRs booked SYD-HKG, which will be a nice change.

Unfortunately, SIN and BKK are MIA as DIY options…😔

Still a bit confused.
1. Please, can someone clarify if a change in origin and destination will be treated with the old points chart from 5th Aug.
2. For the same origin and destination, can we change Airlines? Ex- from Qantas to Cathay

Thanks

Hilarious I was on hold for about 2.5 hours , by the time my seats became available again so I booked it online.

"Changes" means "all changes"

New Reward pricing is now displayed in searches but oddly seems to revert to the old price during the booking process:
