Qantas "Choose your reward" Promo. Select from Double Status Credits OR Double Points [book 25/3/22-1/4/22]

Hi Guys, sorry, another question from me! I want to use my DSC flight credit and another non-DSC flight credit to pay for a SYD-LHR return ticket. Assume that I'll still get the DSC? Do I have to ask the service rep to use the DSC credit first?

If the flight credit still has the same PNR and your flight dates are within the timeframe for taking DSC flights you will be right, but the DSCs may not credit automatically.

However IIRC you can only use one flight credit for a single booking. Also I’m assuming the flight credits haven’t been converted to Qantas passes.

cheers skip

I think if you combine flight credits/vouchers QF probably create a new PNR for it (I could be wrong on that) but I would be very wary of doing that. Just use the DSC credit for the booking and I guess have to use the other credit for something else is probably the safest way to do it. Even if combining credits results in one of the PNRs being retained, what if it isn't the DSC one, or it somehow loses it's magic? I would be super wary attempting this tbh,

So I booked SYD-MEL-WLG + WLG-MEL-SYD with DSC during this promo.

QF just emailed me saying they had to make changes to my flight, instead of SYD-MEL-WEL; IM now on SYD-WLG direct which means the loss of 80SCs which i really need.

Weirdly they are still selling seats on my original MEL-WLG flight. DO you think they are trying to stop sneaky routing on DSCs?

Do I accept the change and try to claim Original Routing Credit, if so how do I best capture proof for this - original ticket plus screen shot of changes? The email didn't show the original and new flight like they usually do, it just said there was a time change (sneaky).

In my experience a time change can sometimes trigger the system to find a shorter flight, which can result in this.

You should have no issue claiming ORC, including the DSCs. I recently did this with not much issue. The agent could see the PNR history.

See the screenshot below for them fixing it up for me, including DSCs.

(Orig book SYD-xMEL-ADL-xMEL-SYD, rebooked onto SYD-ADL-SYD)

No - they reservations don't see this info, nor would they care. Just call up get rerouted back via MEL.

@encryptededdy predicted correctly, time change QF171 now departs 8:15am (was 9:30am), I was connecting from QF401 which is first flight of the day but given it lands at 7:30am suspect no longer meet the MCT for Dom to Y. At 45mins id be worried if there was weather delays.

I guess Id either have to get them to change SYD-MEL to the night before and pay to overnight in Melbourne or stay on the direct flight and try the ORC route.

I had similar last week, booked SYD-MEL-AKL-MEL-SYD. for dsc
Changed to: SYD-MEL-AKL-SYD. like you down 80sc

When I checked QF site, my MEL-SYD flight had been cancelled, so on paper, they have done me a favour, BUT it's not when you want those SC's.
Called only to be told it would cost me over $600.00 to have ticket changed to later MEL-SYD (think I got a newby on the phone.)

Going to challenge once flight has been done at end of July.
I have 2 others booked similar, no changes yet (cross fingers)

Who did you contact? QF or QFrequent Flyers ? (so I am prepared)

stay on the direct flight and try the ORC route.

Do this. Being rerouted to the direct flight on a status run is the best case scenario IMO.

BUT it's not when you want those SC's

You will get the SCs if you email asking for Original Routing Credit.

[email protected]. Keep all your boarding passes and send photos of the relevant ones along with your original e-ticket.

I might take my chances in the terminal and sleep on the return leg.
I will be doing an overnight Syd- Melb-Auck-Melb-Syd Arriving Sun 12:30am then departing Sun 0600.
Any recent experience to share with being classified as a transit pax and a pre departure Covid test?

Transit closed and QF won't issue BPs for return journey as they want to check your DPD etc in AKL.

So test required per standard arriving pax procedure and check-in at the J lines from around 0400 (security opens 0430). A couple of benches on the left after exiting immigration are OK for a few hours kip.

I noticed that the DSCs don't appear to count towards the Loyalty Bonus :(

Thanks for this info, I have been following NZ entry to see if they stop requesting the RAT test and whether QF would give me return boarding pass, as I am doing the same flights - but mid-week x 2.
@Noodles, when are you flying?

This weekend. Now to figure out the NZ entry pass as non transit but only staying 5.5 hours at which address haha
Cheers @Ari Gold for the info

Just write AKL Airport (I think I just used one of the airport hotels). You'll need to upload your test results prior to be issued with the QR Code.

It's a far nicer UX vs the Australian DPD.

As an FYI, I was rerouted last min on SYD-AKL direct, so keep your BPs in case of involuntary changes.

Looking forward to those who are making the 1-stop New Zealand DSC runs during the winter period in terms of what is required to go in and out of the country.

I dont take mine until January so things might change by then but I will still be interested in the trip updates. Have fun yall :)
