I’ll start with the positives.
The crew were great, friendly and engaging and attentive all flight and give them a 10/10
PDB champers served immediately upon getting to my seat. Orders taken quickly and the highlight was the Entree of Grilled chicken skewers. They were absolutely delicious. Drinks topped up regularly proactively and mid flight on several occasions the basket of fruit, choccies and snacks was presented aswell as some Bulla ice creams which were delicious..
Didn’t go with any of the pre arrival meals as they didn’t really interest me

Now the negatives
Whilst the entree was superb the mains was a disaster. The garlic focaccia must have had a garlic bulb waved over the top of it as it had zero garlic taste and the pieces were rock hard and unable to finish it. The grilled beef was tougher than a hockey puck to the point my knife couldn’t cut it and even the CSM offered her apologies as it was inedible and sent it back without taking another bite. Neil’s leaves are also a big no from me
The other big negative for me was the wine selection. Only 3 reds and when I asked for a white I was told there was 2 options. A Chardonnay or a Rose. Chardonnay was ok but after a glass with dinner I reverted to vodka.
So overall not a bad flight, comfortable and great crew but feel the catering should be so much better and a real letdown for what should be a premium product.

I'd argue that rose is a derivative of red wine ahahaha. But yes, one white wine option isn't great for J

Especially when that single white choice is a Chardonnay.

"Only 3 reds".... heck, that's actually above board, but no good to anyone who wanted a white.

Back to PER after a successful conference. Very good service from CSM Jennifer and FA Emma, in difficult circumstances as there was persistent turbulence for at least the first hour of the flight.


Starwood whisky served as a pre dinner drink once the seatbelt sign eventually went off, the usual Santos accompaniements.


Chicken of some sort and a beef brisket were the dinner choices. Went with the brisket, tender enough with suitably tasty sauce, portion on the small side but after having some of the better than average made-in-house sausage rolls in the J lounge, felt satisfied. Good smoked salmon potato salad on the side. A rare dark version of the Koko Black also, though this was donated to the MrsDrJ charitable fund
Washed down with the Mike Press pinot noir, pleasantly smooth drinking but certainly no Central Otago, stopped at one glass.


Maggies ice cream and dessert wine served some time after.

A very pleasant flight with an attentive Cabin crew.

I didn’t hear what the meal was described as but both choices were substantial - a bit surprising with a 5 pm departure.

I chose - again, I’m not sure what the official description was but it was essentially a beef stew with pearl couscous. The other choice was a tomato based pasta dish.



I found the presentation challenging and to be honest didn’t find it very appetising and only ate a few forkfuls.

I made a substantial dent in the St Hallet Shiraz though; very nice.
