Qantas Business Class meals & menus

It is an intolerance, not only does corriander taste awful for those afflicted it also causes nausea. No reasonable person would voluntarily eat something that makes them both gag and feel quesy.

Not sure why you are cnflating intolerance with allergies. Noting that not all allergies have fatal consequences. A coeliac can get very ill eating gluten but one single glutenous meal wont kill them. To make it clear i would never suggest unlike @anat0l that someone eat something that makes them unwell just because its not fatal.

But if your bar for J meals is if it wont kill you its ok, then by that logic there is no need for special meals nor vegan ones as eating meat wont kill a vegetarian or vegan.

Allowing pre order of meals is best, but if not done then loading a ratio of meals that better reflects demand is. If there are only 2 options its not acceptable for there to be less than 50% availability of one option. Given coeliac, religious, vegetarian and vegan meals can be pre-ordered its sensible the non-order options dont fall into those categories.

If there are 3 or more options one can be veggie but if only 2 then both imo need to be non veggie otherwise the airline is indeed forcing vegetarianism on those who dont get a choice, whilst actual vegetarians were able to preorder.

Im amazed there is so much support for Qantas being allowed to be so stingy. J seats arent cheat, they can afford to cater for meat eaters properly.

I'm 100% confident that SQ used Dnata out of Melbourne, at least they did a couple years back (and I believe BTC was available back then)... and a quick search then seems to indicate Dnata is doing SQ out of Sydney...
That’s probably the case, doesn’t change the fact QF have no longer any skin in the game and are at the beck and call of others, let’s not mention the accountants in coward st ……

I'm so glad you are portraying me as some tyrant who would force upon people to eat something that won't kill them, no matter what. Just great.

It's a moot point now as I did some further searching and it turns out there are people who are actually allergic to coriander; this goes way beyond the soap taste thing.

How did we get to this damned argument in the first place? Most (not all) QF international menus offer at least three or four plates for a main. One, not usually more, of those plates is a vegan main. The rest are not suitable for vegans as they contain meat.

On domestic or short haul, you'd be lucky if one of the main dishes was meat-free, let alone vegan-suitable.

Yeah let's not forget the soulless shareholders demanding profit, profit and profit.

At least you could argue that accountants are only doing their job (for any accountants here, how do/did you do/did your job without being spit on or put on a mobster hit list). <redacted>

Offering a meat-free dish is not forcing vegetarianism. There was a tomato soup mentioned up thread which was acknowledged as being very tasty. Do you need to have meat in a tomato soup?
Disagree
I have no problems if a vegetarian or vegan dish is offered along side of dishes that contain meat but not having a choice is unacceptable on a J flight. As someone who will not eat a meal not containing meat I would be livid at having only a vegetarian or vegan dish and would refuse to eat it

I'm literally blown away by the fact that some of you are so insulted by the mere possibility of having to eat something without meat!

Let me ask a question: how does a cow, that eats nothing but grass (twice) for its entire life, produce so much protein?

Couldn’t care less about nutrition and it doesn’t come into any of my calculations when choosing a meal. . I eat things for the taste and if I feel like 3 or more steaks in a day then that’s what I’ll eat

Here we go- the Vegan preach! Who would have seen that one coming?

On the pre-order question: It’s clearly just cost. AA (for all!) have been able to do this for two decades or so now. It doesn’t always work (I had some disasters recently where I was stuck with the -of course!- god awful Vegan option rather than the delicious short rib I had ordered) but most of the time it does. No high tech, old school like a standard special meal.

And on that note- we can accommodate all sorts of fashion diets and sky fairy specials but the ones with a stock standard normal Western meat with two vegges preference are left with some cough cheap pumpkin and veggie mess? Not what I pay good Dollars for!
