Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I’ve been flying PER-SYD and the meals have been awful. I bought a sandwhich in town to eat last (Conti Deli flight The prosciutto salad is ok and the cheese is nice but the mains are consistently cheap slop just in better crockery, and the ‘’roast chicken’ is actually worse that the stir fry slop. Wine is thin and seems to be about $20 a bottle. I’ve been flying Emirates/Qatar F/J internationally for work last several years so have been spoiled. I used to fly SYD-ADL before and food & wine was at an entirely different level. Normally I just wouldn’t eat but it’s a longer flight.

Paid $280 for seat.
(Bid now) upgrade $180 wenr through..
So just a touch under rev J fare.

QFd 685 MEL > ADL (I think) today Sat 10 Jan.
15.00 approx dep.
Curry chicken pie or ploughmans plate.
---
The ploughman's plate is so disjointed - as in crackers, to other foods ratio - its half way there, but come on !! FFS

Has anyone had the Lamb Pie with mushy peas that is on rotation ??

SYD-HBA 08:45 flight, 737. Two options:

Omelette with kale. (Reportedly "quite good").

"Brunch plate" - prosciutto and bread roll.

Initially thought this was a little underwhelming as an option for a 2 hour flight, but was very pleasantly surprised. Bread was fresh and full of a very nice cream goat cheese filling. Prosciutto was also nice and fresh. Good lighter option.

Excellent service. Good flight.

QF483 SYD-MEL on the Airbus A321XLR.

The hot smoked salmon and soba salad was actually pretty good!

I've had variants of this a few times, both on international (WLG-BNE on the E-Jet) and domestically, and I've always found it pretty tasty (though the FAs often are a bit apologetic about it). One of the more reliable options in my experience.

I haven't flown to/from PER in a while but have found the quality of the wine options on QF biz, both domestically and internationally, has really declined significantly.
Lots of the same old producers again and again (does Qantas have shares in Forest Hill estate?!) and minimal choice. You'd think that on long-haul at least, Qantas could manage to offer a pinot noir occasionally in addition to the omnipresent heavy shiraz (especially given all the trends in wine consumption point to people preferring lighter reds) but QF is stuck in a time warp. No shade to anyone who enjoys classic Aussie shiraz - but it would be nice to have some choice.

Just got off QF128 from HKG to SYD this morning and thought I should share some photos.

For dinner I went with the dumplings and pork belly. Both were tasty (and yes the pork was quite fatty so it could be a hit or miss).
I did not like the pork belly dish - the pork belly itself was alright but the way the sauce is all soaked into the rice was not to my liking.

Also, they ran out of the dumplings by row 4, presumably because the other starter options were so bad.

The food I had in the lounge beforehand was better:1769068149938.jpeg

The ploughman plate has definitely gone through a few different variations over the last 18months. The latest version isn’t the greatest tbh. Preferred when they first brought it out

The sausage roll on refreshment service was decent

QF483 SYD-MEL on A321 XLR. I was in 2C, partner in 2D. I got chatting with a lovely barrister in 2A so forgot to take photos.

Bottled water during boarding.

Choice of Chicken Curry with Rice or Brown Rice Salad with Prosciuto. Opted for the curry it was tasty enough (but not remotely spicy). Initially forgot to serve bread but came though to offer it 10mins later. Plus Ricotta cheesecake.

Even with larger cabin (twice as many J seats as the usual 737) and short flight time, they offered drink refills and tea or coffee.

There are usually 2 in the cabin from my experience. They have served in different variations but most recently one would do row 1, other serve row 2 simultaneously then who knows what goes on behind row 1

Yes , theoretically but I’ve also seen just one and then refills have been a lot slower so would caveat. Hopefully they now have 2 dedicated J FAs and the rest of the crew supporting after the Y service. In row 1 there really isn’t much difference but may be quicker in row 2 and beyond.
