Qantas Business Class meals & menus

yeah - i guess i'm usually on a morning flight from NZ. See the lovely cheese platters from Au and thought that would be a good pre-dinner snack (dinner plans on arrival)

Qantas being cheap?....because as much as I dislike AIr NZ, their catering is not this bad....
it that’s because only a tiny portion of the meal was presented. It’s really an addition to the meal rather than a standalone course?

In seeing the cheese and crackers presumably you could have asked for the salad, or bread to go with the cheese, etc?

QF29 MEL-HKG on December 11th. New menu compared to what we had 2 weeks ago to Singapore.
Tasting plate is back lol. Pictures of food to be posted later.

QF128 HKG-SYD.

I know what I’m going to have. If the wifi works, I’ll post updates.

Oh, forgot to post pics!

The dumplings were quite good.

Pork Belly had the usual layer of fat (goes with the territory) but was very tasty also.

Service was pretty efficient noting an evening flight but not rushed (and definitely not too slow as some have complained).

Pics from QF29, crew absolutely woeful. I’ve had a great run with crews on Qantas but other than the CSM, this lot were going through the motions, we had to give them our finished plates/glasses rather than them picking it up and they never cleared any rubbish from the console. Also found a used facemask next to the seat which was a bit vile.

Flight was also full of people going to Hong Kong for the races and they were all awful humans getting absolutely sloshed. Bloke who got upgraded at the gate couldn’t speak English when we landed.

Food was alright. Dumplings very tasty, as was the tomato soup the wife tells me, barramundi good but needed a sauce and the beef just fine. Pre arrival prawns and pasta very good. Trifle was probably the best thing I ate.

Even the CSM on a recent QF126 commented on the standard of catering ex AKL.
The catering I had on QF172 WLG-MEL back in September was just appalling. The starter was a bizarrely huge amount of very stringy prosciutto atop some large, hard chunks of undercooked pumpkin. The main course didn't look bad but tasted vile - I only managed a few bites. Which only left the dismal economy-class style cheese and crackers and the pre-packaged chocolate.

Thank god for the Kapiti ice cream which was, as ever, delicious. But overall a very poor show, and one which makes me think twice about upgrading ex-WLG.

Catering ex NZ has been pretty dismal since post pandemic full stop. That main however really looks nice- what was it and what made it so awful? Chunk of meat, tough as a shoe sole?
