Qantas Business Class meals & menus

The last BA321 flight I was in (LGW-AGP) there were 55 in Club!
That's about 2 hours. Still fast paced, but that's longer than BNE-MEL. And yes I know BA crew work fast.

55 is pretty crazy for J, all the same.

Does raise another idea, which is one cart but working both sides of it. Still requires 2 crew (plus 1 in galley possibly for non-standard drink requests), but that's potentially more efficient than two carts down the aisle. I assume 20 passengers worth of food and accessories can fit in one cart.

I am interested how timings are going to be on Melbourne Sydney flights with 20 business class seats on the A321.
People in row 5 are not going to have long to eat at all.
Should be faster in theory as you’ll have two crew serving 20 vs one serving 12 on a 737

less chatter with row 1 / staff travellers would get the job done.

Yes!

No, but they have 28, 42 or 70 tickets in front of them which they have to work one after the other. Even if that’s one minute per dish to plate, I expect at least 30 mins. between courses? Maybe they can plate faster, but then others will complain about the presentation.

Yet other airlines do it faster/much faster with excellent presentation. QF is anomalously slow.

They could also save a heap of time if they had menus instead of having to repeat the options to each pax.

Tell 'em he's dream'n. Menus??! (You get menus on Eurobusiness flights on BA, AY and TK flights, at least.)

Well, a little off topic maybe, but I'm flying BA Club, seat 1A, LHR-PSA next week on an A319 with 28 J seats, all occupied (as are all seats in Y).

I'll be a little disappointed if I don't get at least a couple of glasses of champagne with my meal. Qantas might struggle with this, although being in row 1 helps there with QF.

lol, plenty of time!!

Been on many a320/321s LHR-AMS - with 40+ seats in club. Plenty of champagne and top-ups even towards the rear of the cabin!

QF26 HND-SYD a couple of weeks ago. Nice day time flight home from Asia. Had the cherry danish and fruit salad. Then for lunch had dumplings to start, chicken kiev and then the 'chesnut and almond cake with chocolate mousse and poached pear'.

Highlight was the dessert, although I think 'chocolate mousse with poached pear and pieces of cake' would've been a more accurate description.

I'm surprised that QF25 (8.30pm departure) offers a supper service as oppose to a full dinner. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind as I'd have had dinner in the F lounge but this week I wont have too much time in the lounge if any.

Back on the usual early morning ride to BNE, typical prompt departure for this flight, which (almost) makes up for the 0330 wake up time needed to take it. Very good service by CSM Maxine. PDB of bottled water was offered.

Had the ham and cheese omelette with tomato, hash brown and spinach, nothing spectacular but nonetheless hit the spot nicely. The usual Lois Lane sparkling continues to punch above its weight for its price point. The other options were a frittata of some description and a NP inspired Bircher muesli.

Smooth flight and into BNE early just before midday.

The service delay on the 738s often seems to be the time it takes for ovens to get to temperature and then the cooking/ warming time.

Wonder if the XLRs will have any better oven tech.
And/or whether you could pre-heat while still on the ground (as I believe some airlines do)

Roast pork, roast vegetables (peas, capsicum, potatoes) and roast sauce (that's what they said). Only one option. No bread, but a Lindt ball given to conclude the meal on a mere 75 minute flight.

I don't know about roasting as opposed to maybe braising. The pork - probably leg or shoulder - was very tender (spoon and fork edible) and quite moist, especially when it appears there wasn't much fat. The sauce was tomato based. Vegetables were delicious, even the potatoes.

Five stars and more for the service by CSM Aaron. His announcements were comical - when I first heard the voice, I thought Qantas had started making announcements backed by an AI generator! His voice was almost like announcements on Queensland Rail or Sydney Trains, except somewhat more natural (viz. intonation, but the phrasing was so close). A part of me couldn't help but laugh. This is a man who loves his job.

On a more subtle note, I'm getting really confused by the distinction of who is operating the flight and who is marketing the flight between Qantas Airways, QantasLink or Alliance Airlines. Yes, in reality this doesn't really warrant much worrying or scrutiny at all, but anyway...
