Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Flew SYD-PER QF641 6:25am departure.

Breakfast options were
- Egg frittata with sausage
- Quiche
- Bowl of Muesli.

All came with a side of fruit, sourdough and danish.

Forgot to get a photo! The egg frittata was pretty good.
 
QF764 PER to MEL 2230 28/03
Meal pictured is a potato soup, alternative was a wagyu pastie from memory. Lois sparkling wine.
The meal was okay but with mentioning the pizza oven at the Perth business lounge closed at 1900hrs which is a disappointing change - not sure when this change was made.

QF157 Mel-Akl 29/3/24

Chicken in a garlic cream sauce - it tasted ok without being great. Pesto pasta salad was bland. Bonus Easter bunny praline chocolates. Generous wine pour and serving of bread.

A proper dessert would be nice. If only we could return to the good old days of a proper 3 course international meal service on trans Tasman flights.

The (Kiwi) staff were great on this flight. Proactive service. Very enthusiastic.

Qantas international flights seem ultimately be consistently delayed now. You almost need to assume that you will be delayed by at least an hour or two.

QF437 SYD to MEL on Easter Saturday 30 March 2024. No PDB. Departed 11am so morning tea service. Choice of 3 - smoked salmon salad, pumpkin and fetta toasted turkish bread, or scones. I was in row 1 so I got my choice. I chose scones - asked if I wanted one or two scones. I went with one. Offered still or sparkling water, juice or tea/coffee. Wine was on the cart but not pro-actively offered (fair enough it was 11.30am when we were served). Offered a top up of water or second cup of tea ahead of descent. Koko Black chocolates a nice touch too. I didnt eat the rhubarb pastry (had it on a flight last year and didnt love it). Overall good service for the short flight. Can still remember when Y flights got decent snacks though and does feel like J is close to the Y service of about 15 years ago.

Flew BNE-MEL yesterday on the 4.15pm service which was classified as "afternoon tea" even though arriving at 7.30pm !!!....Choices were Plowmans Platter, or a Cheese and Ham sandwich or the famous soup this time Spinach and Lentil....Pity about the first two choices which I deemed pathetic whilst the soup was creamy and tasteless....thankfully the lounge offerings were superb so wasnt really hungry....the Koko Black chocolates were really nice and lindt chocolate easter eggs on descent was a nice touch

No consistency in what to expect with those scones/cream.

That baked goods looks a lot larger than the ones I was offered ex-SYD in Jan, and we had individually tubbed clotted cream back then...

I chose the prawn salad which was excellent and the steak which was tough as old boots. The chocolate desert was delicious.

Prior to boarding QF59, I flew MEL-SYD on QF426 at 9am. Again very good service from CSM Linda; addressed by name throughout the flight. Brunch choices were fruit salad, frittata or bacon and egg on Turkish. I had the bacon and egg roll which I distinctly remembered eating in the past from a cardboard box in Y. Serving it on a plate with a sprinkling of rocket and cold roasted tomato on the side did nothing whatsoever to improve the industrial flavour of the B&E roll….

The main looks very ordinary indeed. A very sad looking piece of steak and a few bits of pumpkin and snow peas is quite poor IMO.
Yep. The main was as small and insipid as it looks in the photos. The starter was more substantial really!

When QF were murmuring recently about improved J catering I was wondering it that might have meant that mains would no longer be served on small side plates. Alas, that hasn’t changed.

QF36, had the dumplings in broth which was…edible. Cheese was nice!
Service was very friendly just so slow, even BA had a faster service on their red eye to SYD, took an hour to get a drink, another hour for dinner…I don’t know why was taking so long, short staffed maybe
 
Is the sake on flights to Japan still that Ozeki garbage? I’m flying qf61/62 in a couple of weeks and wondering if I should bring my own.

There’s so much good sake in small formats, they should consult me on what ti serve.
I didn’t pay attention to see what sake was on offer…I’ve never acquired the taste for it, despite having a long connection to Japan. But if we assume they are now mostly serving wines in int’l J that would struggle to break the $25 mark, I wouldn’t be holding my breath for decent sake!

I was in the PER J lounge the other night around 8pm and got a few slices, but it did look like nothing more was to be made. Several guests queried / commented / complained to staff subsequently. As I was leaving to board there was a guy at the front desk asking staff how he could register negative feedback.

Lounge was full at 10pm ahead of 3 A330 redeyes. Just ridiculous not to be making pizza. Admittedly I haven't visited this lounge since COVID, but it just seems in some ways QF is going backward again.

As an aside, I'd forgotten just how often you hear the F-word in this lounge. :eek:
