Qantas Business Class meals & menus

HBA-SYD 737 12:05 flight. No PDB or pre-meal service
Two lunch options. Teriyaki chicken or blade steak with mushroom.

I had the chicken.

Basic meal. Chicken was tender and pretty tasty. Rice was fresh but so bland. Note the lonely chili piece on top.

Very nice Cab Sav with frequent top-ups offered.

Good service from Kim and crew but nothing remarkable about the flight.

As this dystopian DOM nightmare continues, the memory of once was will fade into nothing - just as QF wants to happen.

The 'new' generation will not know what it was once like... The 'new normal'.☹️

These days, I have no enthusiasm to be in DOM J for the F&B 🤢 - only the seating.

Most of the rubbish they serve up, I leave. 🤮

QF 738 ADL- SYD
Cheese and bacon croissant with raspberry danish, and a cheeky mimosa.
Other options fruit salad with passionfruit coulis or quiche.

SYD-CBR 16:00 QF Link 717 flight.

Single option of the Reuben toastie. Ok for this time and length of flight. No pic but still an underwhelming dish - it was at least edible unlike the one I had way back in January. I’m surprised and disappointed at how long the same things stay on the menu.

Bottles of water offered on the ground. Very short flight so no pre-meal service nor time for top ups or hot drinks. Not sure if all of Row 3 even got served. Service was fine but understandably very rushed in a full cabin.

QF80 NRT-MEL 4/12/23. This is about the standard I was expecting, the previous QF79 gave me false hope. Should've got the Japanese set again!

The fried chicken brioche sandwich was probably the winner here.. oh and that little peach treat (which was from the Japanese menu) was pretty great too.

Naturally Neil's leaves were left untouched. Shame they didn't have any garlic bread

MEL-SYD “dinner” flight on 737:

The very first time ever that I’ve seen Qantas staff properly policing the priority queue so that was a good start. Shortly upon boarding, crew came around the J cabin with a bottle of water for each passenger. It’s not champagne but a good start and fine on a short Domestic hop.

Food options included a boring sounding salad and a hot lamb dish which I chose. Strangely no soup available. Unfortunately, the so-called “lamb” turned out to be one of the oldest sheep that Qantas could find on the meadow so it tasted like old mutton
and wasn’t the nicest I’ve eaten. Tomato sauce and overcooked green beans were alright, as were the potatoes. Small cup cake was Qantas-standard but tasty and wine was a rather yummie Cabernet from the Barossa. All in all a stock standard QF J flight but crew friendly and professional.IMG_4363.jpeg

Options were:
Garlic chicken (pictured)
Steak with mushroom sauce
Salmon something (sorry!)

QF29 MEL-HKG

Well they did have some Chinese food for this one....but for the love of god do not choose them!
This thing, whatever it was, the smell was vomit-inducing...

Ah I found the menu!
So it was seared snapper with shiitake mushroom, bamboo shoots, cured ham and jasmine rice.
I had no idea what went wrong in the process coz it really should not be bad, but this was disgusting!

QF BNE-SYD B738 J Breakfast

3 options: continental of Bircher muesli; bacon and tomato chutney on sourdough sandwich; or scrambled eggs with bacon, spinach, mushrooms and potatoes (pictured).

Sides of sourdough multigrain (preplated, not warmed), Pepe Saya, strawberry jam and passionfruit yoghurt.

Delicious enough and generously portioned. Texture of eggs was a little bit off - basically broke into tiny pieces like rice; I prefer chunks. Ditto spinach - chipped to within an inch of its life.

Staff member next to me took the sandwich (served last in the cabin); here it is:

I can't believe the menu proper is printed on an A3 piece of regular paper, but the breakfast card is heavier glossy paper.
As pax need to write on the card, QF can't be such cheapskates when it comes to the breakfast menu!

I can't believe the menu proper is printed on an A3 piece of regular paper,
Looks like a local print if there was an issue with the menu not being loaded - some ports will try printing if they were not loaded ex Australia, as the main menu is the same as the breakfast one you had.

So I say that a good thing it was at least on paper, because they've tried to get something, rather than no menu at all.
