Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Yeah, I can go to a bakery and get a large pie that will feed a family for under $20 🤣
And you can't attribute the cost to wastage because by all counts you're unlikely to be able to have the meal of your choice due to a lack of stock on board

Gee, they slapped the IC on the tray with the main?! Wow.

usually that IC would come later or at the very least separately. does seem like someone(s) wanted to do a quick service and switch off as much as possible. Not a great look at all.

Perhaps allowing for the Maggie Beer to get to room temperature? IME it is usually frozen solid❄️

that's a point I guess.

some flights I've had the IC offered as a desert directly after the main meal, other's it's been offered far closer to arrival. I guess, yes, if it was frozen that may make some sense (hopefully it was described as such by crew when they provided the service).

I've just never seen the IC provided with the main like that though,

I think it's a bit of both with this CSM. Ice-cream was still almost at the perfect temp after the meal, but he's definitely lazy. When the call bell was finally answered, all I wanted was some water. He suggested a bottle would be easier.

On the plus side, he's been really good at turning pax away from the J toilet.

So maybe they are simply good at pi$$ing people off then?

So let it thaw in the galley before serving at the end of the meal. Simples.
you'd think, but then again that would mean an extra trip to each seat/row to hand them out....... does seem lazy to me in that regard. Specially for a longer sector it's not like time is an issue. I just think it looks really poor like that. The first thought I had when I saw the photo was of the airlines who served everything on the tray during covid to "reduce contact points" with pax.

Great photo but sadly the subject matter disappoints. A very small piece of bread and a $15-$20 pie with chocolate etc for a very expensive J fare.

Not wrong at all. Same can be said for all catering on board in comparison to the cash price on any flight.

To be fair, I got 2 larger pieces of bread later on 🥲

QF79 MEL->NRT 28/11. Was delayed several hours (seems to be common on this route). PDB offered and no problem with drinks or snacks top ups along the way. I opted for the Japanese set menu. As most seem to mention, the beef could've been reheated a bit shorted and it would've been perfect; a shame cause the flavour itself was actually quite nice.

Hands down - the best looking J meals on QF on the Japan route

I get why airlines offer catering to match the cuisine of the the country being flown to/from - but if Qantas wants an easy way to up its standing it could offer these meals on more routes. Doubt it will happen anytime soon but re-starting the option to pre-book a meal - with an extended menu (even if only out of major ports) - would also help.

Qantas only seems to do this on Japanese routes. From surveying a number of the other menus given on this thread, the choices don't seem to have any local dishes, let alone menu variants as extensive as on Japanese routes.

Unless you're one of those people who think Asian food is Asian food - it's all the same (and for some people here, it seems it's the same disgusting)

Maybe another exception is New York (American dessert or NY-Italian cuisine or a diner sandwich).

This would be really good - it'd do at least a few things:
  1. You could see the menu in advance
  2. If they have a decent online-only option, you could have more choice
  3. If they could have a much wider selection available for preorder, I think that'd be fantastic, even if that's just available ex-Australia or, dare I say it, available only ex-SYD and/or ex-MEL.
Obviously it would be a significant uppage in the logistics for this to happen, particularly as the Qantas catering operation is contracted. I'm not entirely sure how dedicated to customer service the catering contract company is......

India routes have a localised menu and the choices looked quite good too
