Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I think the presentation is generally quite good compared to other Western airlines. Have you seen the way premium cabin food is presented on BA or AA? Even CX aren't any better then this.
Can't exactly expect Michelin star plating in the sky.
I was just about to mention “But Qatar…” when I duly noted the “Western” in the above. Fair enough- even Air France manages to make their usually tasty meals look worse than Qantas ever would.

QF932 PER-BNE 31 Aug 738 sched. 0615 pushback 0624 takeoff 0633

After a string of red eyes, back on the early morning run to BNE. Very full flight, happy to be at the front of J. Very good and attentive service by CSM Carmody.
PDB of bottled water offered.

Had the omelette for breakfast, these things are usually good and this one hit the spot nicely. The sourdough alongside was fresh enough to push the boundaries of my low carb resolutions.

No printed menu of course, but from memory the other offerings were sausages of some description, and a vego frittata. As for once I am Uber-ing into BNE CBD and not jumping into a hire car to the Goldy/ Sunny Coast, enjoyed a couple of glasses of the Lois Lane sparkling, which IMO punches above its weight (should serve this in the J lounge rather than the Drives dishwater!)

Two options for “supper,” pea and mint soup or a pie. Took the later. Was fine I suppose. Cabin crew were good, think the cabin manger was a little bored as she pretty much begged me to order a cup of tea. She was lovely though.

Choices of ham & cheese croissant with tomato and spinach, fruit salad & yoghurt or corn fritters with sausage. All served with sourdough, yoghurt and a muesli bar.

I chose the corn fritters paired with a mimosa which was dutifully refilled two more times. Brad the CSM was wonderful and managed a full J cabin brilliantly.

Anyone seen the DFW-MEL J menu? 17 hours and only two meals, do they have a decent mid-flight snack menu and is it on demand?

I’ll be doing DFW-SYD in a few weeks but SYD-YVR this week had a substantial mid flight snack options (on demand) which I slept through! 6+ hrs solid sleep (11:00p - 06:15a SYD time) - a PB for me sleeping on a plane.

Bannockburn chicken skewers with spiced cauliflower and pineapple

Possibly the best dish I've had on a Qantas flight, unfortunately the photos don't really do it justice. A substantial portion of chicken thigh with a good amount of char. It was juicy and well seasoned. The pineapple and pickled onion was a great match to offset the spices & oil of the chicken. If you see this on a menu, order it.

QF933 BNE-PER Sat Sep 1, 0600 dep, push back at 0555. Incredibly light load. Only seven in J and I think three are crew family. Y no more than half full. bAlt and my sister are in 4A/B that they were able to select at T80!

Breakfast leg ham croissant with emmental cheese. Quite nice. Tempted to have a mimosa. Maybe laterIMG_8364.jpeg

I flew J SYD-DFW a few weeks ago, yes only 2 scheduled meals dinner after take-off and breakfast before arrival (even though arrives in arvo) but there is an on demand mid flight menu with hot options like a chicken schnitzel sandwich and also the help yourself snack bar.

Will see if I can find the menu as I imagine mel-dfw would be similar if not exactly the same.

The tablecloth is a nice touch.

QF611 BNE-MEL 738 sched 0815 actual pushback 0834 takeoff 0844

Delayed getaway because of a non functioning APU, but everything fine once we were up. No PDB offered. Smooth flight in 1A with a shadow, very good service from CSM Charles.

Had the lighter breakfast option of ham and cheese croissant which hit the spot nicely, the other choices being polenta cakes with chicken sausages, and a salad of some description. The Lois Lane sparkling was again on offer, but passed on this as the real thing was awaiting in the MEL F lounge.

Unlike ice creams that need to be tucked between one’s legs first.

Edit: that’s industry wide BTW!
Yes, I think its the dry ice eskies they use that cool them to cryogenic temperatures. I remember the Peters ice creams that AN always served in Y on PER flights in the 90s always took 30 minutes of the above manouvre before they could be eaten!

Surprisingly nice Panini, smashed that tomato in there and it was great. No PDB though
