Qantas Business Class meals & menus

and QF12 overnight. No starter…
View attachment 328356

The beef was reasonably tasty but over cooked.
View attachment 328357

The chocolate moose was huge and pretty tasty.
View attachment 328358

Usually sort of breakfast options (although slightly different to QF11 posted above).
View attachment 328359
Serving sizes are generous and I often struggle to finish the “full breakfast” (probably would have been happy with a decent coffee and pastry).

Note: the kale was disgusting!

Is it just me who skips over "plant based" offerings on the menu?
Can add though that Kale is okay if done in the airfryer!
Enjoy your trip @Katie ✈️

The kale is ALWAYS disgusting (to me!) lol. I think they do it to make us feel good about having a "super food" with our bacon and eggs but takes me back to my days of being a kid and just really not wanting it lol

but I do... because.. super food :D

I’ve had NP’s kale at Spice Temple - which is surprisingly good. But the green muck on that plate was bitter and nasty. I ran out of OJ trying to wash the taste out of my mouth…😳

Bit of a fail on quality control with the wine list.

But the Cab Sav was very nice.

* Don’t think there is an active First thread anymore, and this seems to be a general dining thread. But happy to be moved.

Service started well with an offer of any drink I’d like before takeoff. I do quite like the Comtes but was happy to have the single malt and leave the champagne for those who appreciate it more. Came with nuts and olives. And was topped up before departure.

After takeoff the much hyped caviar enhancement.

No surprise but it’s the same amount as before, just on a blini. Some kudos for the Tassie smoked salmon.

Crab salad to start.

Not that well plated and I didn’t take the best pic. But there was a lot of crab hidden away and the dish was excellent. Had a mild zing which was nice. Only criticism is some of the pieces of pork were a bit tough.

Then the lamb cutlets.

These were also excellent. Pink in the middle, and very tasty. I happen to like Brussel sprouts too. Great dish.

Bread was tasty but a bit dry. Salad not much of an improvement over the old grass but not really needed.

Then cheese.

By now I’m asking where the real QF is. A very generous plate - if a little lacking in accompaniments. Not that I needed them.

Finally, if affogato is offered I will consume.

Ice cream was still pretty hard even after the espresso and muscat were added (plus a bit of whiskey). But was very nice.

A very impressive meal. Great service from Alyssa (sp?) on my side of the cabin. And with some music on the IFE I had a thoroughly enjoyable flight.

Were you on an old config? All my recent international J flights haven't had music available - other than some podcasts of no interest to me. Am very keen to hear if music is back!
Think it was new config. Couldn’t really notice much change in my F seat itself. But when I looked at the seat map across all cabins on EF a few weeks out the J cabin was new config. I didn’t go upstairs to confirm. But also think I’ve seen somewhere that only new config A380s are in service.

I’ve also not had music on trans-Tasman flights and the CSMs have confirmed. So I was quite surprised to have it on this flight. Far fewer options than before. The 90s category had 5 artists, for example. But still there was enough to keep me happy.

Can’t imagine it was just a F thing. So hopefully it is back!

Some story so they can feed you quickly and you can get some sleep. Pity it still takes over an hour before you see any food. Just cost cutting IMHO.

Steak sandwich is a starter now? I thought they had some sort of professional restaurant guru designing menus

Steak sanga was both a starter and a closer.

Woke up two hours before landing, and asked what food was available. I was offered the chips and chocolate’s etc only. Wasn’t actually hungry, but just checking if any of the other dishes were available. Alyssa told me the pre-arrival meal would be offered in an hour. I was fine to wait.

Crab omelette was substantial and very nice.

First time spotting the Lane Lois Sparkling on my many golden triangle routes. Had to try a few glasses and quite enjoyed. Another enjoyable QF flight with great service!

Food wise was your usual pre 5pm options (soup, cheese or toastie).

So you would say the Lois Lane.. was ... Super?

I did several transtasman flights, essentially status runs, in J, but avoided meals onboard. Meals in lounges were better

These were the menus:

The roast duck salad was very good:

I also enjoyed the Thai green prawn curry:

My seat neighbour had the pork burger:

Chocolate mousse for dessert - very sweet.

IMG_2179.jpeg

The breakfast was also quite good. This was the bacon and egg tart with accompaniments - exceeded expectations and was served 45 minutes before landing.

QF197 SYD-APW (Apia Samoa, via BNE) over the weekend courtesy of SO

No printed menus, slept through SYD-BNE leg so unsure if there was a meal service. BNE-APW leg was pretty standard domestic breakfast offering:

Delayed 10am departure

Three choices - a mushroom quiche with mushy peas, four cheese toasted sandwich or yoghurt with fruit.

This was the quiche, which was firmly stuck to the bottom of the plate but otherwise nice.

I've had good luck in the past scratching out kale or mushrooms on my breakfast order form in QF J.
Didn't work last week on QF12. :(
