Options were pasta, chicken salad, carrot soup.

Went for the soup which was pretty good.

Constant wine top ups by the crew which were efficient but somehow absent hiding in the galley.

Did QF497 after this leg but skipped the meal. Options were cheese platter, pie and toastie. Very hardworking crew from SYD-MEL

That chocolate bar - is it something new? I’ve always seen koko black or Lindt.

Bay leaf rice pudding with poached pears, salted pretzels and caramel

Bacon & egg roll - other options were a cherry danish, fruit salad with yoghurt, and toasted museli

No printed breakfast menu on this leg, breakfast cart rolled through the cabin about 75 minutes before landing with choices mentioned verbally.

I'm flying QF2 on 23/5 so was looking for a current menu!
Thanks.

Fun fact: In the old days polenta was considered “cucina povera” poor person’s food. Often the only thing we had for dinner when times were tough.

The polenta and rice pudding both actually look pretty good.

Fun fact 2: Growing up on a dairy farm in the UK in the 1970s kale was considered a crop only suitable for cattle.

In my house it still is!

Haven’t done a mid morning flight before or elected to partake in the domestic sparkling but flew down on public holiday so why not. For those flying at similar times options were chia bowl, ham and cheese croissant or pumpkin and goats cheese quiche

Oh dear, the Yarra Burn (on the way down) is back!

After taking a brickbat over being served just a bowl of soup on a Haneda to Sydney flight in December our experience on QF019 was a breath of fresh air. Being a daytime flight to Manila we were expecting something reasonably substantial. The food was excellent. The prawn entree was delicious, generous and presented very well.

My Wife really enjoyed the Beef fillet and the Chicken Kyiv I had was moist and very flavoursome. The cheese platter has great cheese and crackers.

The pumpkin and goat cheese quiche served prior to arrival while not substantial was very tasty and moorish. The service was excellent and drinks were plentiful. Perhaps the announcement about bigger meals is the real deal.

Monday 1/5 QF447 SYD-MEL

Options were: Chicken ciabatta, pea & mint soup, cheese plate. Two travelling companions went for the soup which apparently was very good. I went for the cheese plate as I'd wanted to try this for a while. Overall ok but suffers from coming straight out of refrigeration and could probably do with another type of cheese in addition to the cheddar. Good option for a short flight. (P.S. the bread did arrive after I took the photo, the crust on the bread was more dangerous than the knife).

Today 6/5 QF41 SYD CGK

Absolutely top notch crew, very well lead by CSM Andrew. I could tell I was in for a good flight when I went to the bathroom shortly after takeoff and one of the crew was trying to smooth the creases out of the tablecloths to make them more presentable. Everyone did a great job to make it a welcoming and pleasant flight. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

I had the prawn salad and the fish with black bean sauce. Both tasty, the salty black beans are a good choice in the air. Nice glass of Riesling to go with it as well.

Strange looking Grilled Chicken, I must say. Almost tastes like Salmon.

Reading the small print at the bottom of the menu it looks like they loaded March's Japanese Menu inserts. Hopefully nobody who dislikes seafood/salmon ordered the Japanese meal!

HBA-SYD 12:05 flight on the 737.

Just two options for lunch. Chicken with sweet potato, or beef blade steak with mushroom sauce and potatoes. I chose the beef.

Wasn’t too hungry so didn’t mind the somewhat small serve. Beef was tasty and tender though a bit overcooked and gristly. Veg and potatoes nice.

Great service from the crew, which started with a lovely chat with one FA from the gate all the way across the tarmac and slowly up the ramp (I boarded last). Nicole the CSM looked after all J pax with wine top ups and teas and coffees. Very good.

My seat mate requested a sparkling wine and was served from a full bottle. Lois Blanc if I caught the name correctly. I don’t normally pay much attention to sparkling so may have missed it onboard or on this thread, but is this a new thing? Nicole implied it wasn’t a one-off.

Nice flight.
