Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Food pics below…

For me the standout was actually the prawn gnocchi for starter. Food was tasty but nothing that knocked my socks off.

I was served the same gnocchi in J on QF35 the other day. Agree it was very good, though surprised to see QF using the same menu items across J and F.

The Giant Steps tasting notes are laughable - looks like it was typed up by someone on their phone. Caps over the shop, no spaces after full stops and commas..
The wine list is laughable for F. The last few I’ve seen on here and on my QF1 in October there was at least one decent white and one decent red (above what I would consider J offerings). This is back to J offerings!

Korean beef and noodles with spicy sesame sauce - quite good, one of the better lunch meals I have had on domestic business on QF.

The missus had Kung Pao Chicken and Fried Rice - also quite good.

Maggie beer chocolate and salted caramel ice cream with a side of more sugar (Koko Black chocolates) for dessert.

Third option was pasta with mushroom sauce.

From posts on AFF, this has been a thing for a while, now.
On my handful of QF F flights in years gone by, definitely lots of shared dishes with J menus. To be fair others do this too. I know at least Emirates' (excellent) F menus always include some of the J starters and mains. But at least with EK you can see menus in advance and I have had FAs tell me which are the better F-only options as well.

OOL-MEL today had ginger chicken and something else that I forgot. I didn't have the chicken but it smelt and looked pretty good. Grant Burnt was the sparkling - so instead had the regular white which was a sauv blanc semillon which was not too bad.

QF645 SYD-PER lunch service. Chicken with some sort of creamy sauce was actually very good. Other option was a beef salad which sounded tempting and some pork dish. Been burnt with the terrible pork before but my neighbour ordered it. Looked ok, but I was happy with my chicken decision.

DFW to SYD on QF8. Pretty average looking menu.

And I see still using those pretentious ingredients, or at least descriptors. Gremolata? Skordalia? - elsewhere: Frisee? 'Jiangxi style' ?

Every menu has a couple of these; have done for a long time. I guess if the punters can't understand what they are ordering, they can't complain when they get whatever.

Beef with mushroom sauce, vegetables and mashed potatoes. It was actually pretty good. Bread was cold though. The cake was some semolina thing which was basically sand. Crew were fine. Nothing amazing.

My last few Qantas J flights were a disgrace. No wine before take off.. only one choice of red and a disgusting toasty…. Qantas are just going from bad to worse. It’s a joke that they still demand such premium prices…. Never thought I would say it but give me VA J any day now. Also probably economy…. Another 3pm flight today and apparently no wine or beer and it’s back to post 4pm departures only…..Happy to charge twice the price but can’t even buy a beer or wine.

For once a really decent chilli con carne in a lounge. CBR J on Friday. Usually just liquid slop but this was full of quality meat and beans. Had a nice flavour with several crisp though quite mild red chillies included (but clearly visible so you could take or leave).

Lounge also had some really nice salads. Very impressed.

As an aside, the first time in my visits to this lounge over the past 3 years when it was absolutely packed mid afternoon despite only a few flights, and full of business people once again. The QP was open too. May have been this way for a while, but definitely my “Back to normal” observation for CBR and in particular the J lounge.
