For the first time since I have had this card (almost a year now), my QF bonus points have credited automatically without me having the send Woolworths/HSBC a nasty letter.

Is Satan having to get his cardigan out today?

Hooray. I have been waiting to hear this from someone. I lodged an FOS complaint about this issue, and had contact with HSBC about it. They promised me it was fixed.

Really mine have worked for a while. Or perhaps it's because I use another card for qantas bookings. :D

I noticed mine are as well.
Perhaps this is a ploy designed to make us complacent, then they'll stop crediting again in a couple of months.
Might also be a good time to call them back about the 4000 I'm still missing. At least now they can't suggest that I shouldn't be earning 2 points per dollar on the card.

Well for the first time Ive had the opposite, this month points did not calculate correctly.

So Im sure someone has been through this. What counts as a qantas transaction and what doesn't.
The nice lady on the phone said that only "Qantas Mascot" transactions count.
Ive got a couple of international Qantas transactions listed - apparently international transactions do not count.
Ive also got one qantas transaction which is Australian but does not count.

so im a bit baffled. Looking on the EDR site I cannot find anywhere in the T&C where it specifies what is a bonus point transaction and what isn't.

lil help?

AFAIK Qantas Mascot is no longer in use and is why this problem started in the first place

Interesting. the ones that have calculated correctly all have "Qantas Mascot" listed and they post just fine.

Also any intel as to whether Qantas hotels should count or not too?

I have given up on using this card for Qantas purchases because of too many problems getting the bonus points, I'd suggest switching these purchases to another card if you have one...

I had similar problems with Westpac in the last 12 months. The Merchant description (and therefore Merchant ID in the background) changed from "QANTAS AIRWAYS, MASCOT, AU" to "QANTAS AIR AUSTRALIA, AUSTRALIA, AU" and the bonus points stopped calculating. Took a while for Westpac to acknowledge the problem, but was persistent and the issue was finally escalated and fixed. Perhaps the same is happening now for the EDR CC? I'd persist. And I wouldn't be accepting an answer saying "only Qantas Mascot" counts as Qantas may use multiple merchant IDs, which may have various descriptions, over time.

This is exactly what happened last year and why I started this thread

Kevrosmith convinced me some time ago to move CC companies to maximise my point earn :) those calculations didnt factor in moving my QF business to another card as my WWEDR was working a treat, however that may no longer be the case.

So as a westpac customer, what is a great card to go for for maximising QF booking points?

I have the Westpac Earth Black MC/Amex combo, though only use the Amex of the pair. I put all my QF purchases on this. For MC purchases, I still use my EDR CC where Amex isn't accepted. You get 1.5 pts on the Amex and an extra bonus pt for QF purchases. I noticed yesterday that ANZ has a QF Amex combo card with a 40K sign-up bonus at the moment. Unfortunately, for new customers, I see the annual fee is quite hefty.

I went to the FOS about this last time and have a contact at HSBC for this issue. Shall I email them?

Like I said before... Given up on using this card for Qantas purchases since there are way too many issues when and if the bonus points credit, since switching to my AMEX for these purchases, everything just "works"

I've actually run into exactly the same issue with Amex recognizing all the different (and new) QF merchant accounts so it is definitely not just a WOW EDR card issue alone.

I fought Amex for 4 weeks to get some bonus points and only eventually won because they 'took beyond their acceptable time limits to get back to me' so gave them to me for this reason - which I took but still fired back saying that I was genuinely entitled..... Annoying!

Further to this - I spoke to a senior Amex manager who told me they had now realised Amex haven't been doing a great job of keeping track of valid QF merchant accounts and thus making sure they post the bonus points correctly.

Apparently now it is 'fixed' and they are doing an auto-sweep of certain cards to go back and credit points where due..... I won't get any because I had them manually credited... but others - watch out for a nice surprise!

I just charged a couple of hundred dollars with Qantas to WW EDR MC. I'll report back in about 3 weeks when my statement comes.

Update for those that were interested.

I followed up with them twice, on the second occaision the lady indeed followed up and notified me that I would get the extra points in the next statement.

low and behold the points did in fact turn up in the latest statement! yippee!

Excellent. I have another week or so until my next statement arrives so hopefully mine are there.
