I came across this item which somewhat surprised me as the seller claimed the item was removed "with permission" from a QF plane.

I wonder what would be the circumstances that QF FAs would agree to give out a sealed blanket, headphone..... to be removed from plane ?

Not to mention who would requisition it only to resell it on eBay !

Strange indeed !!!!

Your thoughts ?

Wow. Did you "see other items". They've got a couple of thousand $$ worth of airline/hotel stuff for sale.

I have been given permission to take a business blanket from the Qantas NYC to LAX flight...my 3 yr old was asleep and they wrapped it around him and me when we deplaned....on the ground for short period before we reboarded the plane (same seats) to fly to SYD....the blanket was left on the plane at final departure point. I see it as stealing.

You pay for the JQ blanket as part of a Comfort Pack however....

Some interesting Buy it Now prices from the post linked - Over $200 for a pair of QF Plat tags.
Crazy.

It's the new plan to save Qantas.

Pay supplier $15 per duvet (bulk order). Allow passenger to use it, collect after flight take down to local dry cleaner, reseal in plastic ($5 cost) and list on ebay for $150. A sweet $130 profit in Qantas pocket

I have taken things off the plane, for example OZ F blankets are pretty nice so I took two of them ;)

that seller has been flogging the (same?) blanket for months and months. Also had a domestic business class blanket from QF (with permission) for something like $180 as well. They have gradually come down in price - the international one started out at $200.

Guess you only need one sucker...

Some prices on ebay are crazy.
Have recently seen plenty of electronic goods (new in box) go for more than you can bargain to at JBHiFi

With permission? What QF let them take something home to sell?

Unless it's the cleaning company disposing of worn blankets up for replacement.

Strange.

I have a decent airline blanket collection at home - good for guests coming over if it's a bit chilly on the rooftop.

Before Kindles were widely available in stores in Australia, I was doing quite nicely buying myself a new one every year and selling my old one, second hand, for more than the purchase price of a new one from Amazon.

Who gets the F and who will end up with a tatty Y blanket ?

MODS: no offence intended to anyone (F = First Class)
