is it just me or are none of the photos working anymore though....

Simple answer: they have been viewed too many times. :) Wait up to 30 days, then try again. :p Or bug QF009 to buy a photobucket subscription.

A little fairy tells me that once an AMEX is in possession one of the first expenses will be to do exactly that ;)

I looked at starting another account elsewhere, but it'd be a PITA to switch some of the links over.

Coolness, might hold off on upgrading photobucket account for a while then.

Awesome TR there QF009 - looking forward to the next installment when ever it may be!

Easter! And we can't wait!

I don't recall promising a TR for my Easter trip. :-|

The other half however has been dared to sign up to AFF/SQT/FT and post the TR from his perspective. :p He's always going on about how slow I am with these things so I've set him the challenge.

So we'll see. ;)

Eek! Old Generation ClubWorld!

What did you think of the cabin? Comfy but far too crowded and dated now.
Only a few AC running this old spec now most have been upgraded.

Great report Keith! Nice work.

Club seems rather messy, big and impersonal on the 777. It's just one big cabin unlike the 747 where club is split into a few smaller cabins. On the 777 I always book a forward facing seat as far forward in the cabin as possible - so the cabin feels "smaller." At least on the QF A380 the seat design - the "big shell" of the seat in front obliterates much of the view of the rest of the cabin and hence lessens the dormitory feel. Many friends call the BA 777 Club cabin the Flying Dormitory. The 777 cabin is pretty dated and certain things such as the literature holder are falling apart. Nonetheless it's still a pretty comfy way to fly, albeit with a lot less width than I'd have liked (difference v noticeable when I've just stepped off QF J).

Indeed and the BA 777 routes in Asia often have plenty of empty seats in J and F because most want to go on the 747s where possible.

Im not a big fan of the layout on some QF flights as you are very close to the next person even if you do have the seat shell etc.

F on QF the privacy has been lacking also.

Oh i don't mind the lack of privacy "sideways." I like talking to the person next to me and on BA (especially NGCW) you can't do this. I flew NGCW once and tbh it was a bit creepy feeling so isolated. Which is why the QF configs have the best of both worlds - the ambience is more social, yet also personal and private with the small cabin "feel."

You seem to be at odds with a few people on this one. In particular, new A380 suites tout a high level of privacy. This is why SQ and EK F suites seem to take off a lot, because you literally get little complete enclosure in the sky, whereas QF is a bit like an office cubicle - it offers some privacy, but at the end of the day it isn't.

QF B744 F looks a lot like a glorified version of J (better seats is all); unlike many other carriers they don't try to personify the F cabin, e.g. by adding a small table of flowers (a lame attempt, but it would add to the luxurious ambience). Nevertheless, there are also a fair contingent of carriers with F cabins similar to the apparently "blandness" of QF B744 F, but look worse. These are all based on photo based observations, though; first hand observations will obviously carry more weight........

I certainly resent the trend towards such levels of privacy. I defo enjoyed my QF 744 F flight more than SQ Railway Compartments due to the hard product amongst numerous other reasons - and I know a few others have said the same thing (ie, regular F (not necessarily QF) > A380 R). Have yet to try QF A380 F sadly but the apparent selling point of that cabin over SQ/EK is the lack of those scary enclosures.

Based on actual first hand experiences, QF 744 F defo isn't a "glorified version of J" and the assertion that "better seats is all" is completely untrue. There's also the higher and more personalised level of service, and much better F&B (although the J F&B is indeed of an extremely high standard in its own right). I appreciate there's a certain YMMV that goes into these things - but nonetheless i look forward to hearing what you have to say when you've done your F awards to/from Europe. You've walked right into that one mate. ;)

I probably have walked into that one :), but the photos of QF B744 F that I can source don't really do it the justice you speak of. Even the piccies in your recent "Favourite Things" TR don't quite capture the character of QF F that makes it "great". Nevertheless, cost considerations aside, F is always better to travel in compared to J.

Can't wait for my Euro F trips - 1 x QF F and 1 x BA F. That is, I hope, provided QF don't cut the routes down first, or BKK goes into another spasmodic civil unrest at the time.

You quoted me after i edited my post. I also meant to say that hardware isn't necessarily the sole determinant of a product for me. Service and F&B are also as important. However, on the whole i found the QF F bed a whole lot more comfortable than SQ R - the mattress they add to your seat on QF is heaps nicer than the stretcher style fold out bed you get on SQ.
