Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade

My only Kapiti taste, was when I did a very early WLG -> MEL QF flight, from the fridge, that was that small tub, long before Covid.
Pity now that they have control over the ice cream.
Mine will be QF4 as well, Apr.

The lounge looks very decent so kudos to QF.
From people who have been there recently, does it fill up and will the recent JQ changes free up substantial room?

There was quite a line waiting for coffee around 5:30 am when I was there.

Lounge got quite busy but definitely not full. Still plenty of seats and empty tables / spaces between. Am sure it nearly emptied as my flight (QF4) departed.

Went for the first time during Easter. Thought the lounge was great. Had the fish and chips and the apple crumble.

Are they still making WP wait at the restaurant entrance for opening at 12.00? It makes no sense to provide the service then make the meal very rushed with QF144 departing at 13.20 to Sydney

I am in the AKL lounge now. I was told the restaurant for premium members opens at 12 noon and until then the buffet is available. As someone that is allergic to egg the breakfast buffet gave me the option of overcooked streaky bacon, and baked beans. Not a sausage to be found. Otherwise there is an assortment of fruit based pastries and cereal. [I thought only boarding schools served baked beans because they cannot find any cheaper food.] Anyway my first experience of the new lounge is the all day food previously served (sandwiches and pies and sausage rolls etc) in the old "First cupboard" has been removed (more cost savings) and the available options are to deter people from over eating, or maybe from eating. I went to McDonalds (which I loath) and bought that. I enjoyed sitting in the lounge eating McDonalds.

Absolutely not.
We have taken first class rail trips and stayed in hotels worth thousands per night and had baked beans on the menu for breakfast.

I try to book the after 6pm flights from AKL to SYD/MEL as the EK lounge becomes an option (when EK is operating).

Service was quite poor compared to a proper F lounge. When taking my order, the server asked and confirmed that I wanted the desert to come after everything else. The main took a while to come out, and then came the same time as the desert. Resulting in melted ice cream on my apple crumble. No one cleared plates or replaced cutlery during courses. No one came around offering a drink top up.

Food was okay, the beetroot and mozzarella was nice but the fish wasn't anything to write home about. Didn't really like the apple crumble, but maybe that was due to the melted ice cream.

The apple crumble was delicious and the service was not great but I wasn’t expecting much.

Those are usually gourmet or in house cooked versions eg this morning at Sofitel Brisbane, they had Mexican style baked beans. The Qf lounge ones taste like Heinz or SPC mass produced.

I found the food really great, very happy with the new lounge.

Yep, was there Sunday, didn’t open until bang on midday. I was first in and ordered straight away, told staff that I needed to board in 30 mins so would need to be quick. Ordered the squid and the fish and chips. Squid arrived about 12.15was still waiting for fish and chips when I left at 12.35. No top up of wine offered at all, and when I finally asked for more then Waited another 6-7 mins for it to arrive (which I had to leave before I could finish). It’s a generally very nice lounge but not opening that dining area earlier seems crazy. Hopefully the service hiccups can be sorted out soon enough.
