Introducing Qantas Assure, our new health and wellness program which rewards insured members as they take positive steps towards improving their health and well being.

QANTAS AND NIB TO CREATE A MORE REWARDING HEALTH INSURANCE EXPERIENCE - Qantas News Room

Thanks fore the heads up Red Roo! I'm a keen cyclist and I'm wondering if Qantas is going to offer the rewards for other forms of exercise besides taking steps. Strava is a popular program used by both Cyclists and Runners, any plans to integrate this or other tracking programs into the Assure program? If not, any chance of the app created by Qantas rewarding kilometers ridden/rowed/climbed to recognise other forms of exercise?

No Android app? Curious...

Agree. I was just about to say the same thing. Qantas regularly bring out their Android apps way later than Apple. It doesn't really make sense given the amount of people who have Android devices.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I think I read they are excluded from the apple watch.

Thanks Ozmatt. I have a Fitbit so would be leaning toward the sign-on QFF bonus if I took this up. I'm still working my way through the T&Cs. And comparing my current policy and costs to see if this is something for me. As in, do I need more QFF if I can't use them for international premium awards?

Been doing the numbers and the price difference between NIB and Assure for me as a couple seems to be $27.98. Assure seems to price from tomorrow (with the cost rise), while NIB I am not so sure, and this perhaps explains the gap.

Therefore, I'm likely to switch from my current insurer, Medibank.

Is there a sign-on bonus for a basic level, or only top?

I got the "Walk your Way to LA" email from QFF today.

I clicked the link from the email to "Get a quote" and enterred my QFF number on the website to get quotes.
Was browsing for about 10-15 minutes when I got a phone call from Qantas Assure asking if I needed help as the noticed me browsing the site!

Ended up with the sign-on points bonus PLUS Apple Watch after they called me. I signed up with the 30 day cooling off period.

Is a bit of a jump from what I'm paying now, but I was looking to review my cover anyway. Definitely much improved hospital cover from my previous fund. Extras is a bit more and less in terms of payouts. My previous fund would pay out close to 100% but with much smaller annual limits, whereas Assure will pay out 60% on most extras with higher limits...

Need to review over the weekend after reading through the PDS if it is the right move for me or not, and whether to continue or cool off back out.

Went online today and compared with our current Families comprehensive (mid hosp + extras) through Medibank. All up and taking into account our rebate position (nil), for a package, it was going to cost around $1500 more per year through Qantas Assure... as only their top hospital cover covers obstetrics which I need. Definitely not worth it for us.

Received a call from QF 30 mins later as they'd noticed I'd browsed online... when I stated that the reason I hadn't signed up was the $1500 difference, I was asked if I'd taken the bonus points into consideration. I patiently explained that the points bonus was NOT attractive if I had to pay a further $1500 annually!

yeah... looking at the prices... mine is reasonably comparable to my current provider, so essentially the QF points are the same as many other health insurance offers where they give new members a 'free month' on joining. Here they have just converted that 'free month' to some points (at roughly 1c per point).

I dunno, maybe I'm missing something, but why is QF assure the only health insurer to specifically mention ear grommets?

Last night got my policy documents through but the PDF had listed incorrectly the start data of 1/4/16 whereas I had a few weeks into the future to allow me to complete my evaluation.
Emailed them this morning and they said it was fixed but still waiting for the corrected policy document.

I then got a call this morning saying they made a mistake and I was NOT actually eligible for the Apple Watch. I said that if they didn't honour the offer as promised on the phone 31/3 I would be using the cooling off facility and cancelling the new policy before it starts.

Received a call back, which I was out of range and went to my voicemail, confirming they would NOT offer this promise of the Apple Watch as I was not on the highest level of cover.

I will be calling up in a bit to effect the cancellation and cooling off. I am better off staying with my own health fund and buying a watch myself then to follow through with Qantas Assure.

Pretty disappointing experience, which is a shame as the person that called me when I was on the website was extremely helpful and I feel that Qantas Assure should have honoured the deal promised if they have provided staff with incorrect information.

On the plus side, glad I never became a paying customer given the expected low levels of service into the future....

Does Qantas Assure provide medial cover for:

  • frustration caused by extraordinary call centre wait times?
  • pulling your hair out due to the removal of all premium award availability, without notice, for bronze members?
  • stress from the lack of communication by QF to its customers?
  • glasses, to read the incredibly small print that comes not only with the Assure offers, but are tacked on to the end of every email?
