Qantas and Air NZ announce codeshare partnership

Yeah but how will you use it without a trans-tasman??

Yes, most of them will have a trans-tasman flight as part of the journey, but they're not trans-tasman tickets. They are fares filed for other destinations. Aside from which, ones like Air NZ flights from SYD-NLK, BNE-NLK and SYD-RAR don't include an trans-tasman journey yet allow domestic QF flights with NZ code.

Hi, I hope this is the right forum to post this query, as it relates to QF/NZ issues.

We are looking to fly from either PMR or WLG to SYD in March. We would like to go via CHC (rather than direct from WLG or via AKL) to take advantage of the very good $598 J fare on Emirates. Both PMR-CHC and WLG-CHC appear as codeshare flight options on the map I saw, but I just can't get them to come up, whether as a one-way trip or a multi city booking (error #7190-NFA). The system only has options through AKL.

Does anyone know the reason for this? Is it because the CHC-SYD flight is not on QF metal? Or perhaps that the multi-city tool doesn't work too well? Has anyone had success with a similar booking? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,
Horatio

Rather than do a tag on to the QF/AirNZ agreement, do a new OP with your Q.
See if that brings up any solutions.
THOUGH, I think that your situation, Horatio, is new, (as to this QF and AirNZ agreement just started not so long ago), and not a lot of people would do a booking like you plan.
I would have kept the PMR - CHC/WLG separate, and the QF one separate, myself, ie, keep the domestic booking to earn Airpoint$ or SQ KF miles, and then the CHC - SYD one as solely a QFF earn, and make sure you book it on the QF website, if you want to earn QF SC.

Not considering fares as such, not sure if we can even earn QFF points on the Palmerston flights.
Or earn Airpoint$ on the QF Aust domestic tag flights to AirNZ international flights.

Thanks Australia Poochie. I will post a new question as that may get me a solution. Re the Palmerston flight, it should work - the map certainly appears to show PMR-CHC as one of the included routes. And as I don't have Airpoints or KF, I want to take advantage of the codeshare if possible. Horatio

Well, looking at the departure arrival boards in AU, it seems NZ are funneling pax onto every single QF flight judging by the number of NZ codes rotating on the board! Almost as much as EK!

NZ people is it the same over there in kiwiland?
