Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Qantas Epiqure spend did not trigger, nor were there any bonus points on Epiqure or on some QF reward tickets where the taxes were paid in Hong Kong

Does anyone know if they then post the passes out, or is there some other step required?

So QF flights not originating from Australia do not trigger bonus points?

And passes are are automatically sent to you "within 6-8 weeks".

Qantas Club Lounge Invitations will be sent to you within 6-8 weeks of your first Card spend in Australia on selected Qantas products and services on your Qantas American Express Premium Card each year.

Thanks for the info on the passes.

I can't be certain - these were the taxes on some CX flights, and show on my statement as Qantas Hong Kong - but I wouldn't count on bonus points unless they're charged to your card by QF Australia...

$50 Qantas Flight gift voucher triggered first spend and lounge passes for me....

I read it takes 6-8 weeks and they mail them to you!

Hi Guys
Thought I might add my recent experience with this card to the forum.
I had an existing Velocity Amex issued last year. I applied for this card anyway on the advice that some users had been getting the card, assuming this is for new Amex card members.
My application was approved with 10K limit, and also had a note regarding my existing card. No mention of any limitations with this new card.
I called Amex and enquired, they advised that since I have an existing card, I won't be eligible for any bonus points so I should cancel the card if I don't need it.
I just wanted to ask if this has been the same experience anyone else has had or has anyone had a win with this?

That question had been answered in this thread more than once i thought. The general consensus in these situations is DON'T RING them.

Sorry to say but you shot yourself in the foot by doing this.
Should have just activated the card since you already applied, hence your credit record has taken the hit.
Worst case scenario, you incur the $249 annual fee but no bonus points, of which you can recoup about $120-140 by selling tye qantas lounge passes, so max loss $129 vs potential gain of 82500 points...pretty good gamble in anyone's book

Why did you call them? They'd never have known about your existing card and you would have scored the bonus points. But that wont happen now.

$20 for 3000 points. Not bad.

OP did ask for cheapest way.

Only requirement is that you can only purchase points as part of a reward booking.

Hi Bits,

True, I'm sure I did shoot myself in the foot! The letter they sent clearly stated they were aware that I had an existing card, so I thought instead of burning my spend on this card, I can use it for another card.

When I contacted them, they mentioned the join date on my card was last year which is why the system automatically will detect this and definitely not allocate the points in any case.

I have had a look through the past pages, but I'm wondering if there is anyone who has actually successfully got the points in their account in a similar situation? I'm sure I'm not the only person in this case and thought it would be useful to point this info out for anyone else considering this card :)

Mmm...

One of our cards has a join date of quite a few years ago. Has a DJ store card, but think cancelled the DJ amex.

Edit: DJ store card only. Which my opinion is not an actual amex card as the world knows!

Same position, no points to be provided if used?

I am in a pretty similar situation to you, Signed up to an Amex Velocity card in August last year, I applied for this card and received a letter stating they had allocated me only a small limit based off the limit of my other Amex card.

I made a small Qantas Purchase and received my 2500 Qantas bonus points, lounge passes and 5000 first spend points, I am just waiting for a pending transaction made on Saturday night to clear to see if I receive the additional 75,000 in points too.

I will post as soon as I have confirmation either way.

Would I be out of line if I asked what the purchase was sf?

nope, I am an open book lol.
the Qantas purchase was for seat selection on QF16 for four people.
and I've been using it to pay for grocery and normal boring things.
my pending transaction was Agoda I paid for my sisters honeymoon accommodation for her.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

So I purchased $50 gift voucher - hopefully that is Eligible Purchase.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Hi all, I'm considering going for this one but have a few doubts/questions:
- I'm on a 457 visa and have living here since Sept-15, so I have a limited credit history. I have a Bankwest account, HSBC account, Diners (via employer) & Bankwest QFF MasterCard - all in good standing. Would applying for another card so soon (applied for the BW card in Nov) damage my score?
- Paying for utilities seems to count under 'eligible purchases' for the minimum spend - correct? As would booking a QF flight?

I've read that I can sign up via an existing user's link, so if I can help someone out, please feel free to share a link with me in case I go for it :)
