Qantas Account: Notice of suspension

Getting OT, but re passbooks:

My dad uses a passbook. He's 81 and shuns everything modern. Plenty of people out there (and not all of "a certain age") who prefer to deal with people at a counter, even if it costs more and takes time. Some people don't trust online, or it scares them, or they feel they do not have the skills or access to these services, or they just find the concepts difficult to grasp (eg no matter how many times I may try and explain to my dad, or show him, he just can't "get it" - and he's an intelligent, university educated, individual.).

My father is also very much of the view that he also does not want to talk to people on the phone so hates that banks or whoever he has to deal with only provide a phone number of online access and in fact has pulled business from organisations where he can not go into a store front and rant at a person behind a desk :)

This thread is dangerous to my health

Everytime I get a thread notification it comes up with "Qantas account: notice of suspension on my phone

I have a mini panic attack thinking my account is suspended!!!!! I've got points stashed but don't really use it

totally different - you were honest.

I doubt the OP will be back here - they have probably learnt that many AFF members (hopefully most) are not here to do immoral stuff...
Just like all your speculations and accusations... you're wrong. Still here! Just can't be bothered reading all the nonsense you've been posting.
Anyway, sorry to interrupt. Carry on.

So you come asking for help. And you don't post any info after being asked and you don't follow up
And people reply

And you're reply is "can't be bothered replying to nonsense"

Keyboard warrior of 2018!

Maybe you didn't read my initial post? I never came here looking for help or sympathy :) If you scroll through this whole thread; you will find the true keyboard warriors/lawyers and detectives.

Ps. Thanks to the people that have messaged me in private about being in the same situation; I appreciate it!

Yeah I'm completely with the OP on this, not sure how you came up with that conclusion. There is not one post here that makes him a keyboard warrior (he asked a questions about an email he received & whether anyone else had received it), yet there are plenty of posts after that that have thrown accusations at the OP without any actual substantiation.

Nature abhors a vacuum. In the absence of facts (in this case, how many points are we talking about here) then the fun begins.

Interesting on the PMs. Had these people received suspension notices as well as I have not heard similar experiences as a result of the Q Mall? Plenty of examples for other stuff though where accounts were frozen etc.
Anyway, is your account back now?

Yes but only as the Fourth option. Most people loose consciousness after more than three options.:p
Be that as it may, if you have been to a Post Office lately it is clear those people did get the idea to go there from something!.

Don't want to be seen as defending the OP (because I don't know enough as to his circumstance to know whether he needs defending or not), but the initial post asked a simple question and in many pages I'm only aware of one person answering. This whole thread has gone considerably off topic and there have been a number of accusations made. Personally I don't think I'd be much interested in engaging into a moral inquisition into my character either. And without pointing the finger have seen a very different response from some of the inquisitors here when similar questions come their way (in the line of 'that's none of you bl**dy business').

So I'm not sure why you and others asking think the additional information you seek is relevant to the original question and hence why he so clearly needs to provide it?

While that may be the case, the OP is in no way a keyboard warrior as someone tried to suggest - there are a whole lot more comments on this thread directed at the OP's character which would be considered that of a keyboard warrior by any objective person.

Yes. But that vacuum results in speculation. On both sides - OP and Qantas motivation. In trying to somewhat answer ‘around’ the OP’s issue then various theories abound. I think that’s been directed more towards the actions of the OP (looks like a fraud issue) rather than the character of the OP (he is deliberately defrauding). Maybe.

I thought a keyboard warrior was the equivalent of white line fever and I agree that isn’t my thoughts about the OP.

I bet you have read every single post :)

Is there a reason you don't want to say how many returns/points are involved?

I suspect if you did, it would become very obvious that your behaviour would fail what someone else calls the "pub test":.

If people messaged you in private it makes it even more dodgier - why would they not cry out about a QF injustice publicly? Methinks it is because they are doing what you do, robbing QF.

Just my personal opinion of course :)

The additional information solicited is vital to understand the nature of this occurrence. That Qantas freezes an account is of interest to most members here - and thus the circumstances behind it are of equally great interest. The OP initially asked a simple question (as to if any others had similar experiences). But it then became apparent that the op MAY have indulged in dodgy practices which may have caused this suspension. Posters such as myself endeavored to get more info from the op to try to work out what had happened. But the op disappeared.

I continue interested in this thread as I abhor AFF being used as a contact medium for people who are engaging in thoroughly dishonest practices. This cheapens the site, it destroys the reputation of ALL members. We have all felt the loss of such participation as Red Roo. If AFF is used as a medium to promote and support false practices, that upsets me. The op was asked to provide info that would help support the case that they were not dodgy. But they did not.

The OP originally posted on March 12th. Taking into account weekends, we should have an answer around the first week of April. However, if business days then it will be the second week.

However, the OP is under no requirement to reveal their purchase history.

Also, I’ve noticed a fair amount of thread drift. We are back on topic right now, let’s stay there.

Admin,

as a member of this forum I respectfully wish to make the comment that I believe that the AFF newsletter article that referred to this thread was not sound. It referred to Qantas "incorrectly crediting points". This was CLEARLY never the case - QF creditted correctly, it was the actions of some people to reverse transactions to take advantage and gain fraudulent points that caused the problem.

I understand that there are many grey areas, but in this case the AFF newsletter took the side of people who falsely game the system. That is a bad position for the officials of this site to support.

Do banks even have passbooks these days?
Yes they do. We still have a number of passbook accounts.

Blame Australia Post as they make money from people paying bills. Perhaps they need a stamp vending machine.
