Qantas A380 to Orlando (MCO) - one off only

I’m sure it is - what would be the approximate cost to fly an empty 380 return MCO-Aust-MCO? Not to mention the environmental impact (how many tons of CO2 is that??).
They wouldn’t ferry it back to AU. Just to LAX where it could operate back to AU with pax.

The aircraft is only operating two sectors with out passengers. MCO to LAX after they are dropped off and LAX to MCO to go pick them back up. The flight numbers are QF17/QF18 which is the current additional service. It will take normal full fare passengers on the sectors that don't have the winners.

Well that's interesting, yours truly is doing this - and oh I'm going to Orlando for a conference.

I return the day before them however.

my point was, QF could have operated LAX/MCO/LAX with pax as long as they weren't domestic only pax, ie. either coming from OZ on QF or going to OZ on QF. Must be many per day do this.

Only if they have rights to do so, which I expect they don't.

Isn't there a "Freedom of the Air" that relates.

e.g. LAX/JFK can be sold as a separate flight by Qantas as long as there a Qantas international segment in the same booking.

Gate agent was completely confused when I was checking in thinking I was supposed to be on the charter to MCO...
