Qantas A380 reliability issues creeping up again?

QF11 SYD-LAX on 29-Jun-26 cancelled. Any idea why?
Rebooked successfully to the day earlier on a different routing; interestingly the options provided to a points X ticket were a lot more numerous than to a paid Q? ticket. I rang the FF line and was able to get something that worked for us.
But we are going a day earlier and will need an extra night accommodation - any options for compensation?
Not sure why it was cancelled so far out. I'm on QF11 on the 24JUN and so far at least it's operating as scheduled. 🤨

I was booked in F on QF12 on 7 November which just got cancelled and I was moved to Nov 8 (which wasn't going to work). no idea why that day only, QF12 seems to be running everyday either side of it for at least a week. anyway it worked out for me as I wanted to move to a DFW departure anyway, so I got to do that fee free.

November is typically one of the three quieter months for airlines, but is there a special (i.e. charter) that QFi has lined up, say for a major sporting event or rock star?

Interestingly I have noticed QF7 left 5 hours late today,
I was on QF7 just over a week ago -- and close to schedule- left 20min late and arrived on time --- but the map was not working.
Interestingly I have struck this problem on other a380 flights.
It is great to have a map - whether working/dozing as it is just nice to know where we are and how long to go. -and as no wifi on the a380 cannot follow the trip.
The flight service director told me that this happens on this particular aircraft.

QF 7 cancelled today.
This seems to have been correlated with the diversion of Thursday's QF64 back to JNB, but I haven't been able to find why that happened. Anyone hear anything? I will be on QF7 in ten days so I am hoping that there isn't an A380 going out-of-service.

(Also that flight is scheduled to arrive after QF7 departs, so I assume they cancelled QF7 for lighter loads to keep the frame for QF11 or similar, rather than actually being targeted for the same frame?)

QF 11 was four hours late out of Sydney last night. With the long layover at LAX hopefully they can continue to recover operations.

I have a SYD-NAN-LAX trip in J in a few days and some last-minute availability on QF 11 opened up last week but I decided against the change as I have a 4-hour connection at LAX on a separate ticket and was concerned about 380 reliability -- especially as it would cut that connection down an hour. FJ's track record isn't particularly impeccable as ~1 hour delays are almost routine, but unfortunately I still feel validated in my decision despite otherwise preferring the nonstop. Alas.

Are there any options for making a compensation claim after a Qantas international flight is cancelled? Obviously the alternative flight arrangements are made free of charge, but what about for extras like an additional night accommodation? Or meals on a third party carrier that are not included?

Yes, you can put in a claim for those things: https://www.qantas.com/en-au/help/contact-us/reimbursement-claims

You should be provided with like-for-like alternative flights, which include meals etc. Did you end up on Jetstar?

(If you flight departed from the UK or Europe your compensation may be different, including a cash component.)

Thanks for the link. Reading through the policy https://www.qantas.com/en-au/book/flights/compensation-and-refunds-policy, it looks like no accom entitlements if the delay occurred before your departed your home airport.

Second segment is HNL-LAX on Alaska which is US domestic - meals available for a fee. I guess we won't know until we are on the flight if some or all of us get a meal voucher/free meal.

Even as a OW Sapphire, I can't select a forward seat where the rest of my party are sitting, and trying to explain this via chat led nowhere. Initially the response was "seat not available" then when I pushed status, the response changed to its is a "chargeable seat".
