Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates.

Add a few 00s to account for the weight of the water.
Only the EK (and EY) A380s have showers - and it's only available to pax in F/Residences, and is time limited.
Since there was a bit of pedantry about the Residence and F on EY, it's worth nothing that the Residence has a completely separate toilet and shower. F PAX in the Apartments access another toilet and (separate) shower.
Also interesting to note that on EK there is a subclass of crew below the cabin crew who clean the showers and toilets.

One of the main electronics bays is just forward of those spaces, and the lounge is the access route, so you can’t just close it off. Plus a water leak from that area would potentially reach two different electronics bays, and the coughpit.
I thought that might be a similar issue for putting toilets there as well. Looking at the map, it seems there are only 2 dedicated toilets for the business cabin with another 2 that may be utilised and therefore shared with PE folks. With 70 seats in J, perhaps some of this space could have been turned into PJ changing cubicles.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's 4 dedicated to 70J.
Then 2 for 60PE - a toilet had been added upstairs (and 7 for 341Y and 2 for 14F)

According to the map the forward J cabin - rows 11-15 - appears to be a bassinet free zone 😀

cheers skip

Would have been better to just get rid of those stupid lounges and put in a couple of extra decent size toilets in that space. I think that would be a much better enhancement of the J experience on the QF A380.

This is exactly what MH did with their A380s...they have a toilet on each side of the stairs in front of J - the biggest bathrooms I have seen on a plane!

Wonder how it compared to the central toilet in first class on the Etihad A340s.
That is the biggest I have seen - much bigger than the F toilets on the EY A380s.

Yes it was sublime in how subtle it was. I don't think history will judge the A380 well and given the financial environment do question whether refurb is smart or whether they should have just moved on.

I totally agree with this sentiment.

Showing my age, but I've always felt the lumpy façade an A380 never quite held up to the glorious and romantic silhouette of a B747. Daughter said economy on the Airbus behemoth was excruciating LHR-DXB-SYD last year and our other daughters 6' boyfriend just cramped up on the SYD-LAX leg yesterday. As cost-effective as the cabin layout is - passengers having no real leg room in a $$$ Premium Economy cabin is plain greedy. Even Virgin has 41' pitch......

OT and not a Qantas issue, but seriously - with all the money and spin resources they had at their disposal - was Airbus the best they could come up with? I guess the name says it all.

... Daughter said economy on the Airbus behemoth was excruciating LHR-DXB-SYD last year ...

Economy on long-haul is not something I ever intend doing again. Something that we all do once, and trying it out 20 years ago on a 747 was enough.

Anyway, back on topic, who's going to provide us with a report on the refreshed A380 First seat area I wonder? ;)

Unless you know this cabin very well I actually don’t think you would notice much difference based on what I have seen.
I will take some of my own pics tomorrow.
