180 as in 180 degrees and turning back........


Yes it did a turn around. Thats very obvious. Im still missing your point. Sorry I must be a bit slow today.

Im a fan of the B747. But also very happy to fly in the A380 even if it becomes a A180.:p

I wonder what a 747 is if it does (and has done many ) a 180? Or a 787?.

The A380 that had the air-conditioning fault, SOP was to get below 10,000 feet, is that due to they cant heat the aircraft?

The air-conditioning is part of the pressurisation system. If that system shuts down at altitude, the cabin will slowly bleed its pressurised contents away. The descent is to a level at which it is no longer needed. Heating/cooling is incidental, though a bit of heat when it's -50º or so is nice.
 
Presumably, to effect that sort of descent the pilots would have gone to flight idle thrust.

Firstly all descents are done at idle. Power will be used only if we want to reduce the descent rate.

Cruise attitude is about 2.5º nose up. Normal descents at the end of a flight are done at around 0º pitch. With full speed brake, the attitude will be around -3º to -5º.
