Could someone please shed some light on the difference in the 747 compared to a A380 (seating)
my previous flights out of BNE have been in 747's, but this time I am leaving via Syd to LAX - therefore travelling on A380. I hear great reviews, but what exactly are the perks for a economy flyer

The upstairs economy on the A380 is a nice private space if you can select seats there. Also the seats are 2-4-2, where downstairs they are 3-4-3.

On the 747 when SWMBO and I travelled long distance together we would go for one of the two seaters towards the back of the plane, but not the last row. Those 2 seaters have some extra space beside the windows to stretch into, and you don't have to accommodate a random 3rd person.

In the 380, you would have some choice seats: 71D, 80A/K (suitable for singles) and upper deck 32AB/JK - suitable for a couple.

The plane is quieter.
