Prior to the 20 January 2018 fare class and rule changes, you could not purchase an exit row seat in Y before check in if you were booked on the VA codeshare.

Now SQ charge for all Y seats when booking in the lowest fare grouping, I assume that this restriction may have been lifted. Has anyone tried purchasing a Y seat when on the VA codeshare since 20 January 2018?

For the SQ flights I am looking at, the VA freedom fare is substantially cheaper than the equivalent SQ Y flexi fare. As the fare rules are the same, and as I would also receives the 100% FFP bonus, it would make sense to book on the VA codeshare but I would also like to purchase an exit row seat.
