Is this only happening the US and South American routes?
There's also QF29/30 MEL-HKG-LHR vv; last July we booked J on this flight and got to sit in F.

I thought that route was just J in F/J seats. Is it Y+ in J seats also????
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.I thought that route was just J in F/J seats. Is it Y+ in J seats also????
Not 100% sure whether Y+ gets 'upgraded' also on that route (I think the last 2 rows of J were allocated to Y+), but it has been a 3 class service on a 4 class bird for a while now.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
I was booked into PE on QF29 in FEB but had a Skybed allocated. I was considering cancelling my upgrade request. However, about 2 weeks before the flight, the cabins were redefined and I was put back into a PE seat.
My upgrade came though and I ended up sitting next to the seat I had originally pre-allocated.
You can withdraw your upgrade request up until ~24 hours before the flight (or it is granted).So... I'm now undecided as to whether I should put in my upgrade request or not? :-|
