Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

I know several posters have mentioned this in passing, but are there any plans you know of to create a database where we US tourists can upload proof of vaccination in anticipation of opening the borders to non-Aussies?
A belated welcome aboard, @FoothillFlyer!

Entries to Australia other than a very limited range of people (e.g. diplomats) need to complete an Australian Travel Declaration, which is completed for each entry. It's not a general database, and I doubt one will built as peoples' vax status changes over time and there is no real point in creating one..

There is also IATA TravelPass, again journey specific, and an initiative that 57 airlines have signed up to now. Oddly none of them appear to be US or Canadian airlines. COPA and Aeromexico look as close as it gets.

The December 15 date being the start date for NSW unvaccinated to be allowed into say hospitality assumed some NSW hospitality won't choose to only allow vaccinated onto their premises to protect their staff. Another example might be transport providers such as Qantas/Virgin/Rex domestic

Based on recent events you’d suggest they won’t start seriously planning until after the announcement!

All the anti-vaxxers will consider NSW a good place to holiday over Victoria then… might be a mini tourism boom (jokes)

For international travellers, my advice is print, print and print ....

We left MEL this week to return to SIN. We had everything we needed on our phones. But by the time you pass the phone back and forth, it was a major PITA.

We had to show:
- Re-entry permit Singapore
- Proof that we'd completed Singapore Health Declaration
- Vaccination Certificate
- Test result
- Prebooked test on arrival (although no longer need to pre-book)

Would have been much quicker to have the documentation in paper form, than passing two phones back and forth for both of us to checkin.

Given the news report of Netherlands probably locking out unvaccinated for a period of time to stabilise numbers of daily new positives, is it easy for Aussies to get recognised vaccination status for Dutch-domestic purposes eg entry to venues?

That was austria - lockdown for the unvaccinated

The netherlands is going to lockdown lite - regardless of vaccination status. They have 85% vaccination rate.....

Though restaurants and cafes remain open (close 8pm). Cinemas, schools, open. And I believe museums, open.

Perhaps I misunderstood the article (bold the specific reference)

A European nation that vowed Covid-19 lockdowns would be a thing of the past has backflipped after cases soared to more than 16,000 a day for two days in a row.
As of Saturday night, the Netherlands, following an announcement from Prime Minister Mark Rutte, will be plunged into a three-week partial lockdown.

Mr Rutte described it as “a very unpleasant message with very unpleasant and far-reaching decisions” but that it was necessary to “deliver a hard blow to the virus”.

The new restrictions are not a hard lockdown; shops and restaurants will stay open but must adhere to curfews as well as social distancing and vaccine certificates while four guests are still allowed in the home. Cinemas and theatres will remain fully open.

The country of nearly 18 million is at nearly 85 per cent fully-vaccinated among its adult population.

But I think my question is still applicable - is it easy for Aussies to get their Aussie jabs recognized to get access to Dutch venues?

I've been doing a fair bit of looking about this and it doesn't seem so at the moment. The best possible solution is getting an EU DCC issued as then that will be accepted across venues and travel etc. But it is not so easy to get it seems if you were vaccinated overseas.

What we need is the EU to recognise Australia for issuing a DCC. EU Digital COVID Certificate

What about coffee shops? :)

The UK's NHS QR code is now accepted by the EU readers.

I wouldn't know about the coffee shops!

But good to know about the NHS digital pass. Hope is that Australia will follow -by March at least for me. An eternity for governments to decide, then change their minds again and again, in covid times.

We had to 'refresh' our pass in November otherwise it'd still not scan properly. A nice change!
