I know most posters here are more familiar with Oneworld than *A, but I thought I'd ask this question anyway. I have posted the same question on the flyertalk TG board.

A relative of mine recently travelled TLV - BKK - MEL on TG (I assume TLV - BKK was a code share on LY metal). I'm not sure if it was 1 flight number the whole way through or 2 flight numbers.

They have told me that they have not been credtied any points at all, and that they cannot get the points credited to Royal Orchid or any other *A airline.

While I understand that certain economy fare classes would not qualify on code share partners, I didn't know whether that could also be the case on TG metal.

Is anyone able to confirm whether or not the trip (or any part of it) should be able to produce points (even at a discounted earn rate) ?

thanks

V class on TG are ineligible for accruing ROP miles or star alliance miles on other carriers programs, regardless of whether operated by TG or not.

Asian airlines (CX, SQ, TG) are particularly picky when it comes to miles earning on cheaper fares, which is a watch out. Good thing about flying QF and crediting to QF that you earn miles on all commercially available fares.

I'm trying to book SIN-BKK-SIN at moment on TG and I am waiting, waiting, waiting for the fare to go up $15 (that's the difference between V and Q - V doesn't earn miles and Q does other than that no difference in fare conditions), so I can still comply with our BFOD policy.

Fantastic - thanks.

Hopefully the OW carriers will not go down the path of introducing similar fares.

cheers

Oh don't worry about that. OW has it's share of complexity. CX fares that don't earn anything on anyone's program. QF fares that earn points on QF FF but not on AAadvantage, JL fares that don't earn on anything and the list goes on. However QF flights going to the QF FF program is simple - they all earn points, unless industry special fares (eg employee discounted) or FF awards.

One of the airlines (maybe it was SQ?) also, at one time, had a gotcha that if a single 'V' sector appeared on an itinerary, then none of the other flights on that itinerary would get points regardless of what class they were.
