I recently flew to Tokyo on Japan airlines. I flew there business and back premium economy. I got the correct credit for the premium leg, but for the business one Qantas have given me the economy credit.

I still have the boarding pass and is says class 'C'. I googled this and found it was listed as Japan business class. How can I get Qantas to fix this?

As above, plus linking to the partner airline earning table showing JAL C earns business credits.

Thanks. I found the details in a forum post. I don't have anything from JAL. Do you happen to know where I can find it?

Note some airlines list class of cabin on the boarding pass using standardised letters (e.g. F, C, W, Y), rather than booking class. It is your ticket that should identify the booking class. The booking class determines crediting rate.

That said, in the case of JL there is no difference in earning across the various business class booking classes (excluding industry/travel/award tickets).

The above posts all assume you paid for business class, as opposed to paying for economy or premium economy and being upgraded (op-up, with miles, with cash, etc).

Qantas does generally award economy SCs for domestic JL flights in "Class J" (business). Perhaps their systems got confused and thought your business class flight was domestic?

How can I find out the meaning of different letters ie: J, C. As you can guess, I’m new to this
Thanks

Was this paid Business/PE ticket or was an upgrade of some sort involved?

You really need to check your original booking confirmation and what the fare classes booked under were. They should be shown (eg: Business(C), Premium Economy(W) or similar (the formats can vary somewhat from airline to airline)
