Has anyone travelling domestic in POM has this happen or heard of this rule? I had put my luggage through at checkin and as I was overweight, I grabbed 3 cans of food (as you do) and put in my carry on. When I went through security they said I wasn’t allowed to take cans onboard. I asked why not and they could not answer why not just kept saying not allowed. I asked to see paperwork saying I couldn’t take in carry on ( I know I know, fighting a losing battle) They took me back outside and I checked bag in. Checkin agent said cans could be classed as weapons. But what about the bottles of wine I had? I think I could do just as much damage with a wine bottle as a can of condensed milk. Does this happen domestically anywhere else in the world?

I always check my cans of food. Having said that, I have seen people with bows and arrows and bush knives as carry on ... but not in POM. ;)

Carry on luggage from the highlands is always a bit of a giggle. They'll check 16kg (limit) and carry on 15 bags of veges, three chooks and a pig, plus a pikinini or two in a bilum (OK, slight exaggeration)! I've learnt not to even consider carry on when boarding a highlands to POM flight as I know I won't fit!

A week ago I was travelling POM-PNP and my friend had 3 cans of tuna confiscated at POM screening. He was a PNG national, so it does happen apparantly.

As a woman, I found asking Why only got the male security agent more obstinate over my cup of noodles.

I guess if you can throw a rock and hurt someone, you can throw a can of tuna.

Security obviously fancied tuna and noodles for dinner. I’d never had cans taken off me before.

Ha ha, My mate thought that as well so he exited and gave them to a guy walking past outside!
