Hi All,

Wondering if I'm going mad or VA have deleted personal details from my profile.!

After the official transfer to the new owners & and a new marketing campaign release, I would have thought VA would have been in contact with their most Loyal FF's about returning to the sky's...

I'm on my 4th year of platinum membership & I have had nothing in terms of a targeted offer, welcome back or even a email to say the BNE lounge is open again...! Lots of emails are sale fares and extra points..

I've been flying with QF since VA grounded there fleet and I'm quite enjoying the experience thanks to the QR status match..

Is the beginning of the end for loyalty at VA..?

Same here - radio silence from Velocity (I've just dropped from Plat to Gold)
don't think that anyone should be dropping back at this point? didnt they do a complete extension for everyone?

Extract of an email from Velocity I received on Wednesday night.

Today Virgin Australia announced the airline’s future plans. The good news is while flying might look a little different now, so many of the things you love about us will stay the same.

With hundreds of ways to earn Velocity Points, and a huge range of rewards to redeem your Points on, we’re looking ahead to a brighter future with you, AIRwin.

We’re sure you’ve got lots of questions about what’s coming up and we’re here to answer them. Check out Good Questions for more.

Yeah I got that too AIRwin.. Fluff marketing email to no real news for loyal FF's.. No mentioned of benefits or entitlements over what we already know..

Sorry - I should have been clearer. I dropped down to Gold at the start of the year before everything started happening, and got an extension for the Gold through to next year

Nothing here, even the letter with the new Platinum card made no mention of recent news (COVID or the administration). Still confused where the “bonus” SC’s fit in.

Had to laugh at PS “personally” thanking me for my “loyalty” despite a COVID induced lack of flying.

Considering the ever changing border here in WA, closure of the T2 lounge, temporary move to T2 and so much more it would have been nice to get some more information rather than the “general” marketing fluff. Certainly a survey would have been appreciated too; there’s a few ideas I have tried to pass on to help us both make the most of the situation.

Its (their emails) are all an aim to get you to spend more, and them reducing their costs.
The dom A330 are gone, they were expensive to run, but their J cabin was very good.
The B737 will cost them less to run, but the J fares would not have gone down, just because of this.
So, what does that mean, of course, increase their profits.
Less on board "free/included in price food", but now, buy on board, which I had an inkling would come.
On a long dom day flight, maybe you could get a 2nd top up cup of water, at least QF gives you 250ml or so, maybe 150ml small cup sort of covered water now, but VA has always had water provided in a cup, and they poured it.
Now, with the you go go blurb, buy on board, etc, they would probably urge you to buy water.
Of course, fares would not have gone down from the loss of included snacks, but you have to buy on board, meaning you have to have your credit/debit card, to buy on board.
They have not even emailed me to say I have had my 2 VA lounge invites extended, they do appear in my VFF account tho.
I am not flying till Jul, but I have had to go into my VFF account, so see that my invites now run out in Jan 2021, but I don't plan to fly at that time.
So, ergo, unless they extend the life of the lounge invites after Dec 2020/Jan 2021, I have lost my 2 free entries as a VFF PS from 18 months ago.
I thought that the VFF PS 2 lounge entries were going to be ok till used, but it now seems that if they don't extend it (in my case), my entries are lost.
Sorry about the waffle.
Edit: maybe I haven't been paying attention, there has't been a Thursday happy hour email for a while, eh?

No specific communications for me either. I'm not even sure what's happening in terms of my status extension. My anniversary is end of Sep and I'd already qualified prior to COVID shutting everything down. I don't have any flights with them booked as there had been no news about lounge re-openings until very recently. Will I even get a status extension come Sep next year? If not, then I'll be saying goodbye to VA permanently.

So you got a new card in the mail? It’s been over a month since my anniversary date and I haven’t received anything.

I think if I remember correctly, VA gave out some small amounts of "bonus SC" for 3 times, during the middle of this year.
It wasn't linked to/separate from the SC earnt from shopping at Coles/FB.

Most of which landed in my previous membership year. This year I have made little progress in renewing my platinum status, and I already used my one year extension. I can see where this is going!

There are reports of additional 12 months extension to 2022 been given for those who had already requalified.

I was able to take advantage of that.

For what it's worth, I'm about 40 credits short of requalifying for Gold (21st Dec 2020). I received an email saying that I would be getting a 12 month extension to 21st Dec 2021.

I called the Velocity membership number and spoke to someone there, asking if I earn those extra 40 credits before my expiry next month and qualify for another 12 months normally, will I also get a further 12 months to take me through to Dec 2022. I was told that yes, to give them a call once I've requalified for Gold, before my expiry on 21st December and I will keep Gold status until December 2022....

She also told me that she had made a note of my enquiry and answer on my 'file', does this make sense to anyone else?

Sure did, I was quite shocked considering the mixed reports on here. I think it actually arrived quicker than last year.
