I am having difficulty working this out. Say I fly to Germany, then hop on a bus to tour around. For example (and these are literally just city names for the purpose of the question) I fly into Berlin, bus around and then want to fly out of Frankfurt, or alternatively go to another country by bus or train then fly out, is this where the surface sector comes in? How do you actually do a different departure point from your entry point, I've played around a bit and can't seem to get this right.

Thanks in advance

Yeah thats a surface sector. If you fly to Berlin and out of Frankfurt, then Berlin-Frankfurt is a surface sector. Just click the surface sector box on the online tool.

Using that example do you tick Berlin or Frankfurt as the surface sector

Berlin. Just doing a dummy Hong Kong - Berlin - Frankfurt - London, the box next to Berlin is for the Berlin-Frankfurt leg.

Does anyone know if points plus pay can be used for QF RTW?

How many continental zones and sectors?

The xONEx has a fixed fare component based on the number of continental zones; the taxes add a variable amount to that.

It is possible to get the fare breakdown on the OW booking engine.

No break down available but two continents and two side trips one in USA and one in Europe. I think 8 sectors.

Yep. You can book as many (up to the 16 max) or as little (but including the first flight) as you like and leave the rest open. Alternatively you can book them all and change for free later. The actual cities can't change but the dates are flexible.

One of my RTW (2011?) I did change one city destination at a cost of AU$100

I am wanting to book a RTW ticket with QFF points in Business class. I have tried to do so on the Qantas website and the Oneworld Website which both lead to the same page. This doesn't seem to offer an option of using points. Any tips? Thank you

I always found it easy to ring the QF FF service centre on 131131. They are usually very helpful.

You may be suffering from the common misconception that the Qantas five stop 140k Economy/280k Business/420k First award is actually a round the world fare. This isn't necessarily the case.

From what you posted it looks like you're chasing a 280k frequent flyer points five stop award that will actually be around the world. I'm guessing where you're looking on the Qantas website is taking you to the section of the oneworld website that provides information on oneworld's two different round the world paid fares, the oneworld Explorer and the Global Explorer. For what you're chasing the only benefit of the oneworld website is to check timetables and where airlines fly to and from. You will need to use the Qantas website to book.

Go to the Qantas website, login to your FF account, select the option to make an award booking, chose multi city and away you go.

Also see this thread: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ogram/oneworld-award-140k-280k-420k-8228.html.

I have been putting a trip together on OWE via oneworld site. I thought I had it sorted but then it said I had to contact LAN airlines to get a price. Is there a different way to look using QF? I also seem to be offered more Lan flights than QF.
Can someone explain sectors more clearly. If I want to get from BOS to MSY I would need to 2 flights. ie BOS-DFW-MSY. Is this always 2 sectors or is there a way to make it one sector?

If the first flight on your booking is a LAN sector, the ticket will need to be issued by LAN. I suspect that's the cause of your problems. Have you tried getting the first flight as a QF sector? (If this isn't possible for AKL-SYD, try AKL-BNE or AKL-MEL instead.)

Also, as there are no direct AA flights from BOS to MSY, you will need to do this as 2 sectors. Both of these sectors will count towards the total number of allowed flights, both within the USA continental zone and the 16 total segments.

From BOS it would be 2 sectors. What about JFK or LGA. I haven't checked, but you could get the train from BOS to NY and see what happens then.

Just had a look on the AA website out of JFK and it also is two sectors, changing at Charlotte NC. Weird
