Saw an sq 744 on departure yesterday at about 630am over the southern suburbs before it turned to head north west.

Was it a fleet sub for the usual 777 or a charter? Too far away to make out if pax or cargo.

I bought arrival from sin was usually about that time but this was definitely on departure.

It wasn't this one?

(from a BNE ACARS log - not the official ones)

Wunala Dreaming might have a better idea.

It would have been that one, it was MEL_BNE_SIN.

I suspect it was supporting logistics for Exercise Pitch Black which kicks off Monday, there were some SAF F16s at YAMB earlier this week which are now in DRW along with some pigs that are in their last exercise.

The PIGs are now being grounded at the end of the year, so it looks like Riverfire will see one last dump and burn :D

Noticed a military DC-10 (? KC-10?) parked up next to the strategic A330 and A320 on Monday night ~ 9pm. Couldnt catch whose it was due to the darkness and the fact i was driving (no time to stop).

Any ideas why it was in town.

The 757 of (cant recall which rockband) was in town recently again too I noticed (? Iron Maiden??)

Also saw on departure to the south, turned west (along the track the ADL flights seem to use) in the setting sun of a quad jet with high wing and of a decent size (? the Qatar a/c that was in ADL recently??)

The US KC10 was on its way to AVV for some airshow :lol:

The 757 is the Iron Maiden bird.

I think the KC-10 was USAF callsign Reach-088,don't know why it was here though.
Cheers

Edited to add: Apparently it's here for Avalon.

Ok so with all the ash cloud diversions, hopefully someone will get some pics in bne? Particularly the 380?Also, there seems to be a MAS freighter that goes sporadically (?weekly) at about 2am, and is just stupidly loud when it passes overhead. I presume it's a 742? Anyone got any info on this bird?
