My husband just flew F on Qantas and they dont offer a pick up and drop off service yet when he flies Emirates or Virgin Atlantic they offer this in J class!

New to me as havent been on here long.

Point is why dont Qantas offer this too. They are no cheaper and more often more expensive.

Your husband flew QF F without pickup service so clearly they don't see it as a selling point.

Agreed it would be beneficial however.

Not all airlines offer this service. I guess Qantas don't see any need to offer the service.

People are still paying their exorbitant fares without it being offered.. so what reason do they have to change?

+1....

I might add however that if your husband could afford a F fare, what difference does a $100 limo fare at each end of the journey make? Not much considering most F fares on QF these days can run into the tens of thousands of dollars.

And the point being?

Not new news....!

I dont believe the OP used the term "new news", its just news to someone who has not been part of this board since 2004. Your post is lacking some constructive content

In all fairness Qantas do offer the service if you are happy to pay, its called Qantas Drive. It should also be noted that the free limo is not on offer if fares are discounted in a lot of cases, such as Z class with VS. QF invented Business class, its just been enhanced by others with things like transfers etc.

It should be noted for the record that the free 'pick-up' limo service on offer does not extend to the whole of metropolitan Sydney - people in western Sydney have been caught out with a bill because they live too far away.

We get charged about $150 each way for a limo to the airport - about the same as a taxi - and a hell of a lot more convenient that bus-train-train.

Mind you - I would be very happy flyer if QAN introduced a free service as others have done - but on an economic level - as others have noted - why would they when people are willing to pay their price to fly up front?

check out the QF UK site for F lon-syd/mel-lon say mid next year $5.5k quid!!!

Actually as a regular VS flyer in Upper Class you only get the limo on J class fare buckets. The price difference between a J fare and a Z fare is usually $4,000AUD on LHR to SYD.

The difference in service ? A limo. I opt to phone Amex platinum and spend $200AUD on a decent limo myself. Whilst money is not of paramount importance in my life, value for money is common sense.

In terms of Emirates I believe they will pick up within 60km unless they have changed the scope since i last flew with them a few years ago.

What about the other carriers offering a pick up service, what is the radius?

cheers

I’m not sure on the EK radius but their limo service isn’t perfect. For one thing, they charge extra for a child seat which is a bit rich if you’ve spent, say, ~$30K on F fares with them and then they hit you up for a trifling $20 or so for a child seat. Secondly they charge extra if you have more than a couple of suitcases because that means they need to send a larger car or minivan.

My TA (Amex travel) actually won’t use the free EK limo service any more. Instead she books a third party and they (Amex) cover the costs. At least that’s what’s happening for us tomorrow when we get picked up for our EK F flights to LHR...
