I'm going to book PER-CNX return on SQ departing Boxing Day as there are more SQ flights out of PER as airfares are almost $500 cheaper per person and there are 3 of us.

Will use Velocity and/or QFF points to get to/from PER from BNE. Have already booked BNE-PER on VA Christmas Day arriving 12:00pm. I'm keen on the 6:40am SQ flight Boxing Day as that gets us to CNX near 5:00pm same day.

Wife and daughter have never been to Perth. Thinking of Crowne Plaza for the night as I have lots of IHG points but it might be best to stay Holiday Inn City Centre to be close to CBD as we're there on Christmas Day and no CAT bus on the day and limited bus timetable.

Will more than likely have 5 bags + golf clubs so public transport out of the question.

- Shuttle at $24/person is way too expensive
- SUV Hire car is $115 + $35 parking + fuel
- Uber comfort is $35-$40 each way but may need Maxi taxi

No need to visit restaurant and will more than likely order Thai food or a burger. I guess we'll need to be in bed by 9:00pm and head to airport around 3:00am.

Any other options? Thoughts appreciated.

The CP is getting tired but you can park on the street opposite for free o/n (after 6pm from memory - not sure what the w/e / Public limits are - might 1 or 2 hrs for free). But presumably you checkin and drive off somewhere anyway? No idea, what if anything will be open on Xmas day nearby. The hotel restaurant wasn’t too bad as far as they go.

Hire a car and go visit Fremantle and go to the beach for the afternoon. Not sure much will be open. You’ll find street parking free nearby to the CP.

CP tired but useful if using points and location pretty good - can also wander across the the river and walk along.

It’s that classic “too short and too long” issue - too short to do very much, too long to stay at a hotel only.

Work colleagues recently stayed at the CP and regretted it.

Public holiday street parking is like Sunday parking. Quite possibly free. The city will be dead on Christmas day with very few places open to eat. Maybe being more central in the city will open up an easy walk into Northbridge for dining options.

For transport, if you think you might need a maxi-taxi then consider an Uber XL.

Also, if you're staying more central in the CBD you're then right near the train station should you want to head to Fremantle for the afternoon/evening.

Thanks guys.

I've booked the Intercontinental for 29000 IHG points. Holiday Inn was 21000 IHG points and Crowne Plaza was 25000 IHG points.

Haven't decided on anything else yet. May end up hiring a car and going on short drive. Not much open on Christmas Day.

That's dangerous John. Your daughter may decide she loves the IC style and pester you forever about it. ;) o_O

Maybe. She's spoilt rotten. 7 years old and she has been on more flights and stayed in more hotels and hotel nights than people stay in a lifetime.

At the moment her needs are simple. Swimming pool and eating som tum with mum. She hasn't really complained about where we stay although she does have favourites.

The IC is in a much better location and much better standard. Its a short (uphill) walk to Kings Park which is always nice for an hour or two.
