Currently on a LNER 'high speed' Azuma train to York. About 20 excited 10/11 year olds in the seats in front of us. They are very noisy but still better than listening to phone calls.The ride is pretty rocky and the seats are not much softer than a park bench. But at least the legroom is very good.

I've visited here and loved it. I actually spent two whole days here and am quite pleased to see photos of others enjoying the museum and the exhibits.

I've visited here and loved it. I actually spent two whole days here and am quite pleased to see photos of others enjoying the museum and the exhibits.

We spent a few hours there. Plenty of photos to come when I can get back to my TR.

In 1976 we were driving through Yorkshire and decided to visit Scarborough. Unfortunately it turned out to be a Bank Holiday weekend and the traffic was at a standstill. I gave up and turned around about 6km out. I promised myself that one day we would make it into Scarborough.

Today was that day with a train trip from York. Unfortunately the visit turned out be one of those cases of 'be careful what you wish for in case you get your wish'. I was prepared for the seaside promenade to be tacky with penny arcades and the like. But all of the town we saw was sad and if not run down then teetering on the edge. Looking online Scarborough seems to be one of the most deprived place in Yorkshire. At least the weather was good.

North Bay was quite scenic with even a few surfers.
