Perth QC (QP) a joke

Well Qantas has been reading this thread.

Strolling into the Qantas Club this morning I first had my FF card sighted for validity and then scanned at a separate table (set up especially, next to the existing reception desk) by what appeared to be a sub-contracted agent (no uniform or Qantas ID badge). It seemed strange but then I ventured further into the lounge to see a very large A0/A1 sign with "We're excited - new facilities coming soon for your enjoyment. We've listened to your suggestions and we are expanding the Qantas Club".

Great to hear.

Just hope it's not more chairs in the same space.

I was in the QP recently twice, once en route to Sydney and once to Port Hedland. Both were quite early morning trips and I did notice the place was not quite as busy as it has been. Got a seat both times ... once by the window too!!

Did you request that while you were checking in?

"Renovated and upgraded" is not quite the same as QF's term "expanding".

So, was in the Perth QP the other night, and spoke at length to the (friendly) dragons. Apparently they're putting in a 'Regional' lounge downstairs for the FIFOs. It's to be more 'conversation friendly' and suitable for larger groups of people. The upstairs lounge will take more of a business feel, with more workstations and smaller groupings of chairs. We'll be able to choose which loungue we go into - they're hoping we'll sort ourselves into the right groups.

They were also able to confirm that there will not be a Platinum or Business lounge (as most of the FIFO are already platinum, so it would just move the problem to a nicer area).

All of this is just gossip, but they seemed to be in the know.

Rio Tinto are now placing a lot of their employees & contractors on DJ, so that should free up some space.

Skywest are now flying to PBO as well. This will also help reduce the demand.

Still looking forward to strolling in every so often in my Hi Viz gear...;)

Was there on Tuesday, not a free seat in the house. I kind of expect that now and just go for a coffee before going downstairs to sit down.

You may complain about the PER Domestic QP ... until you go to the PER International QP. Might as well BYO food to that one. Maybe next year they can merge with the Emirates lounge and give Perth a proper international lounge.

The Perth International QC isn't really up to standard. I'm guessing the facility will be upgraded in the near future.

Or... QFi drops PER completely, JQ(SIN) and EK take over, making the EK lounge bigger to handle their new A380's. JQ pax with QP access screwed.

Hmmmm well I guess we will have to wait and see. When I fly out of the country I do try and time it for when I am in Sydney. It is such a much more pleasing experience in the First Lounge!

Maybe PER will get a joint QF/EK First lounge with A380's coming. It could replace the QP to take the load off the EK lounge.

Got to post the good with the bad. I was in the Perth QP at the international the other day and was impressed by it, there was actually room and seats available.

Staff were friendly and apart from one guy in a suit on the phone who thought everyone needed to hear his conversation it was a good experience.

Food was nice as well.
