Perth QC (QP) a joke

This seems to be a general trend with lounges in most airports.

If both airlines are hell bent on ensuring everyone has status then they need to be able to cater for all the people flying. I think the guest rules are the ones to be reviewed next.

Not like Perth it isn't! In the past two months I've been in QPs/Business lounges in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Townsville and Brisbane, and the regional lounge in Launceston and I've never seen anything as crowded as Perth. It's ridiculous.

Perth is having more than a thousand folks a week arrive to fit into our city and everything here is straining. If you really don't need to come over at the moment then you can avoid choked over priced accommodation. This rate of arrivals has been going on now for over 3 years and all of our infrastructure is strained.

There was an article in The West yesterday i think and even the Perth Airport CEO rated the airport as a C+, so at least management recognise its got its problems...

Hopefully from the new year things might start improving a bit...

yes that too - couldn't believe how much a mediocre hotel room in Perth cost!

Last year I did a last minute trip over to PER, sleeping on a park bench nearly became a dangerous reality. There was literally not a single bed left in the entire city at any price range. Luckily at the last minute a friend of a friend was able to give me a couch to sleep on for the night, but it was the closest I've ever come to not having a bed for the night.

I can't see how they can stop a QP member from bringing a guest into the club. When I paid for my lifetime access, one of the stated benefits was guest access. This would be a significant change and I would want significant compensation.

You might want to read the terms and conditions of what you signed up for, no compensation would be due, other than a prorata refund of remaining fees.

According to the T&C's they can restrict entry into a club at any time due to space constraints, they are not preventing you from bringing in a guest into the QP full stop, just at times when the club is full (or small due to construction work).

As for the DJ lounge in PER - agree it is bland and a bit like an empty Ikea-inspired waiting room... but you always get a seat

I think that is overly generous - perhaps my criticisms of the DJ lounge in PER are harsh but I think it is a coughhole.

I have also been in the QF J lounge in MEL during delays and it has been standing room only.

Whilst the QP might be full, there are plenty of empty seats around the terminal. You don't *have* to go into a lounge everytime you're at an airport.

I think the DJ PER lounge is somewhat larger these days than it was earlier this year.

Apparently 50% bigger, not bad for what is effectively a temporary lounge pending the move to a new terminal.

For the amount I pay, yes I do.

(I'm also one of these people that's always very very early for flights so the lounge is useful for breakfast or a drink)

I think a well worded argument that you are not getting the product or service paid for would qualify for a refund, or at least action by the appropriate Fair Trading Act.

I'd be asking for a voucher to go eat downstairs if they actively tried to turn around me or my guest. If it got to be a regular issue then more action is required.

I understand they handed out vouchers when the MEL QP was closed due to fire so they do realise that people expect to be able to eat and drink at the club.

Whilst I don't disagree with the OP, it would help if people didn't put their luggage on a seat.

was there tuesday morning recently, it was like being on a construction site but indoors

And how about a nice coat rack somewhere. Slap on the usual 'we take no responsibility' sign and I think that would stop a few people put their jackets and suit bags on chairs.

Which would be fine if the construction site was actually a larger lounge.
