With QF increasing its flights and capacity out of PER, it's been mentioned that a new QC will go into T3 when VA moves to a new Pier. Has anyone heard any rumors about a J lounge for us Perthites. We deserve it.

There was a thread last night where it was discussed. Never been but my personal take would be that if they have a lounge in T3 and T4 then when VA disappears, one of those could become the J lounge, the other the QP. Or maybe they're building the J lounge in T3

The QC or fluro lounge is 2 levels now in T4 so it would make sense for a J lounge in T3.

I wouldn't be surprised either way. On one hand, yes a lot of J traffic and it would assist them a lot in terms of offering compared to VA, but on the other hand a decent number of WP who are from the fluro brigade that may over run it. However they over run the QP now so it could only be a good thing. (Note: No malice intended!)

The Qantas Club is on 2 levels? Shows you how observant I am. I was there the other day and only noticed upstairs.

Is the obsession with the business lounge a status thing or jealousy of the eastern states? There is not a lot of difference and island dining is not that special.

Not sure. My experience from BNE and MEL Business lounges, compared with QC in PER is that QC is always packed and dress standards are shocking. Lining up at the bar is not cool either.

A business lounge is no different.

Believe me when I tell you the (collective) loud noise in the Qantas Club is much better than the wankers in the business lounge having a competition of who can conduct the most annoying phone calls during their time in the lounge. Seems they need to try a few times to get the point across.

Dress standards are not much better.

And you will do a lot of lining up at the bar to wait to be served a drink while the one person serving is distracted making coffee for someone.

A J lounge in PER would be great, but it would be just moving most people from the QP to the J lounge. The extension to the QP is great, still prefer level 2 because of the view, the showers & more toilets & the 1st level QP is only open from 0400-1800hrs, Mon-Fri i think.

I'de fully support the J lounge in T3 as it will have better food, sometime QP food isnt even worth looking at.

Don't forget that PER T3 has two main lounges downstairs already - a Virgin lounge AND a "fluro" lounge, when Virgin moves out, its lounge space will obviously become available, but I am not sure what is happening with the "fluro" lounge space there?

The bottom lounge is at the end of the escalator down, you enter to the left , to the right you exit the lounges.

They are shifting some of the Network Aviation and other FIFO flights to T3 so I doubt they would but a J lounge there.

I think you will find they have moved to the new T2 near the international terminal.

I certainly notice the difference - the availability of a hot breakfast is a huge thing for me, as I don't eat cereal and don't like to eat sugary things for breakfast like pastries. Having hot food available for much of the day is great too - when you're on the road a lot and don't necessarily get to eat while rushing around, it's nice to get something approaching a decent meal in the lounge, particularly as Qantas seems to think a sandwich is dinner these days. Agree the island dining is not that great, and it seems to be heavy on fish, which I don't like. But they did have a nice poached chicken sandwich recently in Canberra.

That's correct, 2 separate lounges that aren't connected.

I think we will see both airlines investing in some pretty nice lounge facilities at PER.

Virgin Australia at their exclusive pier and Qantas in the current domestic precinct.

I'd be really suprised if QF doesn't add a J lounge as they appear to have suddenly become quite proactive, almost a knee jerk reaction to VA now they've realised they can pull off transcon J exceptionally well.

Maybe a lounge for VA in T2 also, as they are the major tenant? Or maybe just a good connection between T2 & their new mainline pier and a "super lounge".

Having never been to WA or paid much attention, doesn't the master plan call for all terminals to eventually be in the same precinct? Or has it been revised such that T3/4 will remain where they are, on the other side of the airfield? I'd just think, if they're going to build more terminals near T1/2 then they wouldn't want to invest too much into something that will just be closed/demolished?

Nope, Network Aviation, Qantas & Qantas Link FIFO flights still operate out of T4.

Yep, that's still the plan as far as I know. Circa 2018 at the earliest I reckon. There's a 1+ billion dollar road upgrade around the airport that needs to be completed first and that will take years - though they are starting works this year apparently.
