Hi everyone

Quick question today for Platinum QFF members, what do you typically ask for when the Qantas Customer Service Manager personally greets you and asks if you want anything when you are flying on international economy flights? I'm always at a loss as to what I can get away with. The last time I asked for noise cancelling headphones and a bigger pillow, which they provided promptly.

Just interested...

Thanks
Chris

Amenity Kit for my wife from the pointy end.

Newspaper.

All asked for at different times and all received. :D

What about asking for seat at the pointy end?

On 2 class PER-SIN I have asked for a J Meal and that has been provided.

Now this is a good question.

I've always thought of the 'meet'n'greet' as a 'compulsory' trip for the CSM. I normally smile and chat with them quickly and wave them off not asking for anything special.

If the flight is quiet, they sometimes come back later for another chat which can be nice. I have good memories of a very nice CSM on my last trip NRT-BNE who looked after me well.

I really should start asking for something special. From similar posts previously, a newspaper/champagne/special spirit only stocked in J/amenity kit are frequent requests. Often, the CSM or another FA hands out newspapers anyway to status pax if there are leftovers.

I'll have to start upping the ante. I'm sure they frequently get 'a seat up front' or similar requests that they can't easily give, so it has to be something easy to obtain. Hmmm. Plenty of time for me to think about what to ask for before my next Intl flight.

Never once had the personal greeting, but I do sometimes ask for an amenity kit when flying int'l Y.

Last time, I said it was because I wanted to have a shave. They took the shaving foam and razor out of the amenity pack (this is in the old amenity kit days) and gave them to me by themselves .

Edit: Have often asked for a glass of Bortrytis when flying J on a 3-class flight, and they've always obliged. Not a fan of the muscat at all.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Is it too much to ask for a J amenity kit, J meal and J pillow?

Or can a WP pax in QF international economy request these items? Assuming the CSM actually does greet you!

Or could it perhaps depend on the individual CSM?

What if i'm travelling with my wife and we are both WP? I get the idea we are asking for too much if i ask for all 3 items, times 2!!

Truth be told, I am quite disapointed with Qantas in this respect. Probably only on about 25% (if at all) do the CSM take the trip to ask how things are going and if there's anything they could assist with. The few that do are usually nice, but these days I rarely expect anything .. so not to be too disapointed.

Usually do MEL-SIN, MEL-LAX, SIN-LHR, MEL-BKK ..

Quite irritating actually .. Oh well .. got that off my chest. ;-)

The meet'nGreets tend to com in waves and it depends on your route.

There was a period during the first half of last year where the CSM would come down to greet me every international flight but this has died off in the last 9 months or so.

When they do come down back to say G'day, by asking for something achievable, I feel it helps the CSM feel a sense of accomplishment when they action your request.

So by them getting you a J meal - in fact it is benefitting them rather than you? :p

Out of interest does this apply to OWE or just WP?

I am intrigued to see what welcome I get on the upcoming SOB being a OWE now...

Will be interesting to see if I also get a greeting on my flights to and from LAX next month.

NC headphones and the amentity kit sound like good suggestions.

Perhaps the J meal will be pushing it....

Maybe all the non WP whY passengers should start asking for J 'stuff'. Imagine how good the CSM would feel about themselves then....;)

Perhaps a bit of clarification. Often the conversation goes "welcome", "Waffle", "if is there is anything ...". At which point, rather than leave it hang, I ask for something easily attainable. I get something and the CSM feels they have done their duty and can move on... ;)

I don't know about on QFF Emeralds never having been one, but one or twice I was greeted as an SG ...

I got the welcome as a OWS on most CX flights (when I had the same CSM)

I agree. I'm not sure I've plumbed 25%, but I don't think it's been more than 1 in 3 times that I've ever been greeted.

I've usually only asked for a newspaper (if I haven't already been able to get one at the airport), but it seems I can up the ante. J-class meal sounds nice as does being able to shave (and clean my teeth with decent toothpaste) :)

I was flying J Melb-Lax last month and too asked for a glass of the botrytis from F and was told NO!
I couldnt believe that a sip of a $20 bottle of "bad vineyard management" was not given up.
anyway I still had a great flight but a bit pissed (for 2 minutes) about the liquor. I would have been really pissed off if I had to actually fork the $ for the ticket and not rely on the good ole upgrade!

Pog out!

Agree... need to up the ante a bit.. just wonder how they would take it if you called them, introduced yourself as a Platinum card holder and then requested 'stuff'. Anyone tried that? Just getting shaving gear, tooth brush .. noise cancelling headphones would be great.. and even better getting a decent meal and drinks .. but that is maybe stretching it a bit?

Being an exiled Scandinavian we usually shut up and 'cope'.. but being a bit influenced by the Aussie way .. I recon it may be time to try it out. ;-)

The last time I was personally welcomed by a CSM, I was on a flight to NRT.

Instead of taking the pre-assigned seat in row 36, I was travelling with a colleague, and we took one of the two-seater arrangements right up the back.

The poor CSM took the time and effort to walk all the way to the back of the plane. It didn't look like he visited them thar parts often... (but as CSM, maybe he does, and I don't notice).

They often don't carry more than a single bottle of the Noble One in F, and early in the flight they have no idea what the demand is going to be from the F passengers. Several times they have run out of it when I have been in F - perhaps due to my liking of it ;) .
