I'm thinking of doing a trip in November this year, from PER to FRA. I want to try and earn a few extra SC if it will fit in with the plans.

Fares from PER seem to be around $2k return in whY on OW carriers (which I'd like to try and stick to...).

Any ideas?

Pony up a few more dollars for a LONE4, then consider doing one of the AA challenges.

ba.com will give you PER-SIN-LON-FRA-LON-SIN-PER for the same price as the direct SIN-FRA - $1994 all in. I guess anything more complex is likely to be lots more expensive.

Should I hold off and wait for a sale, or are my chances of doing too much better on price reasonably slim anyway?

OK you can definitely get more creative. I've had a look at the routings on expertflyer (not that I understand them very well) and the QF multi-destination booking engine. It allows PER-SYD-BKK-LON-FRA-SIN-PER for the same price as direct ($1448+++). So if you have a play on there you might find something suitable.

Here are the routings from expertflyer. Good luck making sense of it.

Have decided the SC would be negligible so will do a v. simple PER-SIN-FRA-LHR-SIN-PER; which can be done via BA.com for approx. $1950, $120 cheaper than the same flights on QF

I've now been able to find the same flights cheaper on QF.

Hmm, for $2 more I can go via MEL for an extra 20SC... but it adds 8 hours onto the trip. Still gets me into Frankfurt at the same time, though. Ponder ponder!!

$2 for 20 SC's? That's excellent value! :D

I think I'm going to end up on settling with PER-FRA // LHR-PER (rather than putting in the FRA-LHR flight).

It brings the price to $2020 however I don't have to make my way back to FRA (which is where I am starting the trip, not finishing) which would have costs such as taxi to the airport, taxes/fees on the award flight; which would all come close to $70 anyway.

I have 9,000 BMI miles to use so figure that wherever I end up; I will then use BMI (or a *A carrier) to get me to LHR.

Does that make sense?

Absolutely, might as well do it in J unless you have something else planned for the remaining BMI miles.

Nope! J all the way!

It's interesting to note that as a QP NB I was able to preselect the same range of seats that were available when I was QP PS, nothing less; which is good to know.

Yep, premium seat allocation is generally available for QP, PS and "higher".

I'm happy with how easy it was to do:!:

Wasn't a problem at all the openjaw the ticket.
