Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thank you Mal and Dave for the advice. I will let you know how I get on when I have the trip details fully worked out.

Note that platinum advantage members can already use Australian billing
address credit cards through AA customer service. Just make sure you
call the US number (which from australia is dialled as 0011 1 800 843 etc)
and if they ask, remind them that it's a platinum benefit.

I've done about a dozen transactions through the US plat desk with
various Australian Amex's in the last 2 months.

Tonight I called the platinum desk to pay the taxes on an award flight and
wasn't able to use my aus billing address amex. I had to use a US credit card.
Having done this dozens of times, as I said above, I said I was sure that
it was a platinum benefit to be able to utilise non US billing address cards.
The person I was talking to claimed that it was a platinum executive benefit.

I ended up using a US billing address CC, but really would have preferred to
keep all the expenses for the trip on a single credit card.

Has anyone else had this experience, or is able to confirm the policy?

Also, if things really have changed, when did the change come into effect?

Cheers.

I used my AU address credit card at the EXP desk about 2 weeks ago, without any problem at all

A couple of weeks before that, I also paid with AU address, but we had to find ways to fudge the address - it was mainly the postcode I think, that had to be in 5 digit format, so we just added a 0 to the beginning, and it worked.

If I have had problems with one operater, I get them to hold it, and call back shortly later and try again.

I think that it may be a EXP benefit though. Not sure why it would be.

Just about 2 weeks ago I made an AAdvantage AAward booking for myself and Mrs NM and was able to pay over the phone at the time of making the booking using my Australian Amex Rewards Maximiser credit card. The EXP desk AAngle was not sure if it would work, but she said the system returned her a ticket number and the ticket showed as issues, which meant it worked. The following day I have 2 entries on my Amex account from AA for the taxes amount for each ticket.

So it can be done via the EXP agents.

A few years ago when I was Plat status I had to fax a form and photocopy of my card to Sydney to process the payment of taxes for an AAward.

Well AA have answered my email and say they wont accept payment via Paypal if your address is outside north america. This is really stupid.I paid for my galapagos trip by Paypal-quote was in US dollars, paypal converts it to AUD before you confirm payment so i dont understand AA's problem.I have also just made a payment to Laos quoted in $US.

Hi everyone
Doesn't seem like anyone else has posted this info, so I hope it's of some use to you. The AA German website accepts cards with billing addresses in any country. I found this out recently when I called the UK (i.e. Ireland) office to pay and they told me to go to that site. It's americanairlines with .de on the end (sorry I couldn't write the URL out, I tried to post this before and wasn't allowed to include links as I haven't posted on here enough yet!)
It won't be of much help for RTW bookings but for regular fares you won't need to fudge your address...
Hope that helps
L.O.

I had a look and it resembles the Amadeus booking engine that Qantas.co employs.

No good offerings for MR's however ...
