Hi All,

Ive had a read through a raft of threads re Qantas and paternity leave. It doesn't look great for me.

My year ends 30 June. I haven't been travelling a lot due to paternity leave - and all my corporate travel was with Virgin (Im plat over there too)

Despite that I have managed to get quite a few status credits and find myself 270SC short.

My corporate travel is also switching to Qantas so Id like to do my best to requal

Does any one have any tips? From what I have read there isn't a lot of options around paternity leave.

If my only option is a status run I can be in either Sydney or Melb and I can put a Darwin trip in there if needed.

Happy for any advice!

Thanks, 3

A status run for 270 sc will not be cheap; something to consider with the relative value of WP status vs. the $$ cost of re-qualifying.

As far as local runs go, I still think a sale J AUS-AKL for $599(for 2 pax) or $649 (for 1) is reasonable for 80SC each way. You might be able to add an additional 40 each way via another city eg MEL-SYD-AKL. That will get you most of the way there.

Have you discussed your options with our Frequent Flyer team on 131131, or email [email protected]?

Alternatively, I'd be happy to follow up via private message.

I thought for a second there that the team was now discussing status run options :D

That'd be an interesting department... selling excess seats to keep members in the lofty heights of the program and maximise revenue ;)
